##DEBUG# menu - EVDO Engineering status

Gentlemen,

Does anyone have a good understanding/description of the ##DEBUG# menu?
I'm trying to understand the "EVDO Engineering" submenu and specifically the dependency between "STATE" parameter and "AN-AAA".

The reason I'm looking for the clarification on this is because my 3G (EVDO) speed is the same as 1x speed and is around 120kb/sec. :(

I have suspicion that even that I have 3G icon in the notification area (I'm running RebornROM 2.2.4), I still can use 1x speed only. May be this is why my "AN-AAA" says Pending instead something like "Authenticated".

(TO CLARIFY: I don't blame the ROM or the Phone's h/w. I know for sure this is what I messed up while was planing with QPST and QXDM settings... So, I'm trying to find a way how to fix it).

I found that I have several situations where "STATE" (S) changes, but "AN-AAA" (A) stays the same:

1) S: Acquisition, A: Pending
2) S: Idle, A: Pending
3) S: Access, A: Pending
3) S: Connected, A: Pending

Any ideas on what I should verify?
Thank you in advance!

My AAA also says pending on Reborn. Your AAA is an authentication password.

What are you using to measure your speed? Like speedtest?

Do you mean 120/KB (kilobytes) as in how fast the files are downloaded or 120/Kb (kilobits)

Captmeach7, thanks for confirming on "Pending".

As about KB versus Kb. :)
It wasn't a typo... I use www.dslreports.com/mspeed and my results (even in an area with very good reception) are from 80 kbit/sec to 120 kbit/sec. But no more. :-/

May I ask you to confirm that you have 3G speed (while "Pending" status). What are your numbers?

Try a ##rtn# reset. It will wipe everything, but should reset all the evdo parameters provided you didn't do anything to make ota activation screwup.

You can try updating your profile first.

If that doesn't help, ##RTN# will reset everything and download a new profile, but I'm doubting it will help you. If your phone says 3G it thinks it is connected 3G.

If you are having troubles streaming you can try getting rid of the proxies in ##DATA# -> Multimedia

My guess is Sprint is just not doing well in the area you are testing. I would try some different locations.

Also you might want to try different speed test tools. If they have different results that can give you clues where to look. If not, then it just confirms your original #s.

Do not... I repeat DO NOT clear data using ##RTN# it will brick your phone! Now I have to figure out how to restore my phone...

You should run Xionia CWMA recovery. It won't brick your phone if you are running that. If you aren't running that (or stock recovery) then both ##RTN# and privacy->reset will brick your phone.

There's a how to recover using emergency mode thread you should try.

I always use forms of Clockwork Recovery... never RA but anyways I did recover my phone nothing worked as far as recovering my device but using "[How-To] Unroot your phone and return to stock" Sticky'd Thread....

Glad you got your phone working again.

However you must have had something going on with your phone when you tried the reset.

The reason Xionia CWMA works with privacy->reset and ##786# reset is because it passes these operations to LGs stock recovery, so if you were using Xionia CWMA and it bricked, then it would have done it with stock recovery also.

During testing of different upgrade scenarios to work out the rooting procedures back in the V9 to VC days, I had done at least 30 ##786# resets with Xionia CWMA and never had an issue so I know it works under normal conditions.

I never use that site for checking, i always check with speedtest on my phone or when im tethered i use speedtest on my pc. I generally get around 700kbps-1100kbps. That works out to real world speeds of like ~80 KB/sec download speed.

Your right well I was using an older version of xionia I'm guessing... the one I have now looks completely different... took a couple is hours to get it back up
