Default File Types Missing?

I've got a 3G Xoom and upgraded to 3.2 over the weekend. Now when I go to open a file (using File Station or ES File Explorer) nothing happens. Well, the screen dims a bit but the file doesn't open. I can use an application to open the files just fine (Gallery to open a .jpg for example) but I can't open it from the file explorer.

Now, having said that, some file types do work. I can click on a .xls file and QuickOffice launches and opens the file. It's the HD version of QuickOffice too and not the pre-loaded version.

If I press and hold the file, I can choose Open As/Image but I still see the screen dim but the file doesn't open.

Is anyone else seeing this? Is there a way to set the default file type? I used to see a list of my installed apps with an option to use that app as the default but that's not showing up either.

I remember reading about that screen dim issue. If its the same problem you need to rotate the screen and it should fix itself. Not sure if its a one time fix or not ill try and find more info for you.

That did it. It appears that switching to portrait when the screen dimmed is a do-it-once, fix-it-forever solution. I NEVER would have thought of turning the darn thing 90 degrees.

Thanks a bunch!
