I'm using SetCPU on a rooted incredible with Virtous 2.6.

Tweaking the settings and tested throughout this week.

Cannot find anywhere stating the stock default incredible CPU speeds.

What is the CPU speed of a stock incredible fresh out of the box?

500Mhz?

998mhz..I keep mine running at 1.15..runs smooth a battery life isn't to bad

how do you change the cpu speed? I'm rooted and I have setcpu on my dinc. Do I need a custom rom to change the cpu speed. I'm showing 998mhz as the max on my dinc.
Thanks in advance

Yeah different kernels allow you to OC the processor with SetCPU..you can adjust it on the fly to achieve better linpack and quadrant standard scores. When i crank mine up to 1.19 I'm getting 44+ on linpack and 1800s on quadrant

No. I'm rooted with FroYo and setCPU. In SetCPU, go into Profiles and Enable them. I also enabled Notifications (shows status in the notifications bar). Create some profiles.

Mine are:
Screen off: 460max
Battery < 40% 576mhz
Battery < 60% 652mhz
Battery < 80% 768mhz

You can not overclock it with the stock rom, though (AFAIK).
Make sure in the main screen you click Menu > Perflock Disabler every time you reboot. This actually lets SetCPU set the CPU on Sense devices.

thanks, appreciate the quick reply
I just downloaded rom manager and I'm deciding what rom to try out. for some reason I'm a little nervous about it, but what the hell.
I think I'm gonna try virtuous 2.7 and go from there
thanks again

Is this still needed? I installed setCPU yesterday and I had full charged of 100% at 1am and around 9am I still had 100%. I setup setCPU to start at boot and the only profile I created was "Screen Off" 384Mhz max (priority 100). So it seems to be working for me. I've used my phone a lot today and still have 40% charge. I've also been using the music player (most of the time the screen is off). Instructions said to enable Perflock Disabler only if the app is not working. Have u noticed a big difference with and without that featured enabled?

Go to SetCPU > Info an look at your Frequency. Mine was still saying 998mhz even though a lower profile was "active." I still have to set the Perflock or the profile doesn't actually do anything, even though it says it's on.

I have the scaling (main menu) set to "On demand" and checked "Set on boot", so when the screen is on I see it toggling between 245MHz and 998. Other than that the only profile I have is "Screen Off", so wont' be able to tell other than by battery performance. When u enabled "Perflock" were you seeing a lower frequency at all? It seem you have other profiles enable on your phone.

Once I set the perflock then the cpu drops to the correct setting. Mine is also set to on demand and on boot. The perflock still needs to be disabled for me.
