Android Central Question

Hi, i have some hidden folders in the gallery app of my galaxy s8. Now when i try to attach a picture in an app like example facebook messenger, the default picture folder is "all files" so the pics in the hidden folders are shown. Is there a way to change it maybe at least in Facebook messenger?

Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! Are you using a 3rd party hider app?

I'm not aware you can hide folders in the stock Samsung gallery app

Samsung's gallery app does not display a folder and its content if the folder's name starts with a dot (for example ".pictures").

Samsung's file manager will only show such folders if you have set it to show hidden system files, but the Gallery app will ignore them anyway.

Albums can be hidden in gallery app , individual picture can be sent to secure folder and file Manger under DCIM shows albums

Hi. I'm the original poster with the problem. Yes you can hide albums in the gallery app. I tried putting . In front of the album name but the pictures inside the hidden albums are still showing when i try to attach a picture. In the attachments in here is what I'm talking about. The first attachment is how it comes up but i since i use the hidden albums often, there pics will be the first to be shown and i don't want that. The second attachment gives you the option (top of pic) to select album but then it reverts to all files when you're done. Hope there's a way around this :(. Thanks

Hi welcome to AC!
If you long press the album you can change the cover image.

No...the pictures inside the hidden folder are visible. I think the best way to put it is: how do i change the attach popup from "all files" to a default folder like example camera folder?

Ahh..then if you want hide those pictures I think best to send to secure folder , I'm not aware any way you can do that in stock Samsung gallery app itself.

Thanks. I'll try that. I was gonna add that it doesn't matter if the albums are hidden or not i just want to make sure that when I'm going to send a picture to someone not all pictures comes up for selection :). I'll let you know how it went

Hey. So putting them in the secure folder worked :)...but i forgot to mention that sometimes (3 times a day) i still want to be able to attach them...specifically to a website using chrome. Now when i tried to attach them i couldn't find them even when i opened the secured folder :(. Do you have any idea what i can do?
