I think the mid price market is going to fail and only the high-end and low-end will survive. The difference in cost for Samsung to make the 7.7 or the 8.9 is pretty low because the guts are more-or-less the same leaving the screan and battery the only things that make the larger models more expensive. So, if the 8.9 wifi only 16GB model costs $449 the cost to Sammy to make and market it is likely about $350. If that estimate is correct then the likely cost for Sammy to make and market the 7.7 inch model might not be much less than $325 and the difference is probably less.
The Kindles and similar will drive the low end and the middle price market will be eaten by them. The high end market, like BMW, Rollex, etc, will do well whether it's 7.7 inches or 10.1 or whatever.
