The 7.0 will probably be around 299. But I hope the 7.7 will be around the 300-400 range. That device would sell so fast.

I'd be surprised if the prices are that low. I think the 7.0 Plus will start at around $399, and the 7.7 will start at $449-499, maaybe $399 if the 7.0 Plus is cheaper. The cost to make these tablets is much higher than you might think, I mean the average smartphone at full retail is around $500-600, and these are similar components but in a little larger form factor, the bigger screen and battery adds to the cost as well. Still, every company has to look at the market and decide what they think people will pay, and hopefully Samsung realizes what is going on right now in the tablet market and decides to price these a little cheaper.

In light of the TouchPad and the Kindle Fire, I think many people have changed their views on how much a tablet should cost, if you read the comments here on ac you'll read a lot of people saying things like "250 or no buy" on articles about the 7.0 Plus etc., but the reality is that Amazon and HP are losing quite a bit of money for each of those they sell, HP is obviously a different story, but Amazon expects to make it up in services. For example, if you want to buy a book on the Kindle Fire, you have to get your book on Kindle, same goes for renting movies and TV shows through Amazon, buying music, buying Apps from Amazon App Store. Samsung doesn't operate the same way, once they sell you their tablet they aren't making any more money off of you.

Another example is the 8.9, Samsung announced the price of the 10.1 and 8.9 way back in March, and no one made a big deal about the prices, people wished they were lower but it was understood the prices were average. Then 6 months later the 8.9 is released and people are complaining all over the place about the price being so close to the 10.1.

I think next to the $199 Kindle Fire, a $399 7.0 Plus is not worth the extra cost for many people and it will not sell very well, and hopefully Samsung will realize that and price it according to the market. As for the 7.7 though, I think it is a different class of tablet, I doubt it will see mass adoption, and I also think it will cost a lot for Samsung to make due to that display, I'd imagine they won't be able to keep the price low enough for most people. I think it will sell pretty well with enthusiasts though, in more of a niche market. I hope I'm wrong and Samsung will seriously consider the Kindle Fire announcement in deciding on price for these.

Looks like his pricing is pretty close. The 7.0 Plus preorder is now at $399, the 7.7 won't match that price or be cheaper. My guess is $449 to $499 for a wifi 16gb model if that is released.

I think the mid price market is going to fail and only the high-end and low-end will survive. The difference in cost for Samsung to make the 7.7 or the 8.9 is pretty low because the guts are more-or-less the same leaving the screan and battery the only things that make the larger models more expensive. So, if the 8.9 wifi only 16GB model costs $449 the cost to Sammy to make and market it is likely about $350. If that estimate is correct then the likely cost for Sammy to make and market the 7.7 inch model might not be much less than $325 and the difference is probably less.

The Kindles and similar will drive the low end and the middle price market will be eaten by them. The high end market, like BMW, Rollex, etc, will do well whether it's 7.7 inches or 10.1 or whatever.
