Definitely July! [edit]

I've been really busy with best buy mobile and am trying to confirm final specs of the bionic. My rep insists its a "a lightning fast omap dual core 4440", but im not sure i believe her. She swears this is what was in the employees guide, but im pretty sure she meant a 4460.because she stated it was a "power vr gpu @ 384 mhz" . Whatever that means.

Any word on bootloader? Is the 1gb ram for sure? Screen and battery size? Sorry to ask so much lol. And if the rep lets you see it let us know if it is smooth or laggy like dx2

I think she's getting confused because the 4440 IS the 4460. It was originally announced as the 4440, but was rebranded as the 4460 when it went into the market. The features are all the same, including the 1.5 ghz clock speed, and 384 mhz PowerVR GPU.

The most sensible thing I've read in ages. It's amazing how phone development blame quickly adopts a popular simplified meme and it goes viral in days. The majority of people haven't a clue as to just how complex cell phone development is, and most people on forums that I've seen start reiterating an opinion they've seen somewhere that just sounds smart even if they have no freakin' clue as to what is being described or how valid a concern it might be in normal real-world use or timing.

Spend some time in IRC's and then come back and make this statement. I have spent close to 2 years in IRC's with some of the best dev's in the business. A lot of them are my friends. These guys can code like nobody's business and they don't take whats out there and tweak it (the top developers do not tweak existing builds). They build FROM SOURCE.

What they build for our devices are leaps and bounds better than what the manufacturers put out to the masses. It's not a meme that goes viral. It's a fact that goes viral.

Sharon you are speaking out of line on this one. You are ignorant to the facts.

Now kindly step away from the shotgun and lets sit and have a drink :)

Do you think its possible its an underclocked 4460? From the pics she sent me im pretty sure its looks like its looks like 1.2ghz

Picture of the spec sheet or is there a menu on the handset that shows the clockspeed? I'm unfamiliar with the menus.

Oh and yes they will underclock rather than overclock the processors. So its probably the 4460.

If this phone really is what your saying, it could easily be the next og droid. It will be the fastest phone on the market by a decent margin (4460), dev friendly (unlockable), great battrry life (moto phone), and of course the fastest network (lte).

I wouldn't be surprised. I doubt they would choose the 4430 because that maxes out at 1 ghz. Plus, the 4460 is a way more flexible processor with a more powerful GPU. It also gives them some room to play if they decide they want to increase the clock speed later.

I was looking up specs on the 4460 and saw a page that was speculating the next nexus to run with a 4460. Also, why underclock the processor and unlock the bootloader. Its almost a dead given people with just boost the clock speed backup. I guess battery life would be the main reason. What do you guys think?

Music to my ears.. well eyes, but I read it out loud so it still applies ;)

So yeah, last thing we really need to know is about the battery size. Everything else sounds amazing.

Oh, and is the Lapdock a definite now? If so, I wonder what kind of price we're looking at?

Did I miss anything about the screen? People are taking like pentile has been confirmed but is this true? Say it ain't so...

Yes, the build from source, but are they writing the source from scratch?? They are taking Google's AOSP Source and, in some cases, the source released from the Manufacturers for kernels, etc... and changing, or 'tweaking,' it and then compiling.

Again, I am NOT trying to diminish the great work that they do, but rather simply pointing out that they are starting with some pretty great work to begin with from the source trees they are accessing.

And I would guess an underclocked 4460 would get better battery performance than an overclocked 4430. Hopefully that will compensate for the LTE battery life issues.
