Hi everyone!

I’m on a device running android go and my carrier is compatible with it. I was used to texting people on my iPhone, and this is a little hurdle of me converting to Android.

When texting my fiancé in the same room, my messages to him sent through immediately, but his messages to me took 15 minutes to deliver. Do you think it’s possibly the fact that his iPhone was attempting to send as an iMessage for the first while and then realized it couldn’t so it finally delivered through sms?

Could it possibly be a result of my carrier or his settings?

Any advice would be amazing!

I'm wondering if you're on the right track with the iMessages thought. I got these instructions from Google on how to leave iMessages and be sure you receive messages on your Android phone.

To ensure you receive messages on Android after switching from iPhone, you must deregister your phone number from iMessage before activating your new phone. Turn off iMessage in settings on your iPhone, or use Apple’s online deregistration tool if you no longer have the device.
Steps to Ensure Seamless Messaging:

  • Before Switching (Recommended): On your old iPhone, go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage. Also, turn off FaceTime in Settings > FaceTime.
  • If You No Longer Have Your iPhone: Go to the Apple deregistration webpage and enter your phone number to receive a confirmation code to unregister.
  • Update Group Chats: Ask friends to delete old group chats that included you and start new ones. This forces the chat to use SMS/MMS instead of iMessage.
  • Check Carrier Settings: Ensure your carrier has updated your account, as some Apple devices may take a few hours to realize you are no longer using iMessage.
  • Check Contact Cards: If you still don't receive messages from specific people, ask them to edit your contact card in their phone and remove any attached Apple ID email addresses, leaving only your phone number.
Let us know what you find or if you need more advice.
