Delete Dialer Data?

Yes, generally I would agree. Based on what "Dialer" means to me. But, we're dealing with programmers here. They are not normal! :D. It could include all sorts of ancillary tasks.

Having said that... I am monitoring my Dialer entry. No more phone calls. It has risen from 6 to 10 percent since first appearing. But is now drifting back down. It's 8 percent now. Beats me.

"Bugs" me! LOL ;)

Overnight went from 99 to 79 with data turned off. 43% dialer.... I guess either I get another brand CPO or reboot at least daily :-X

Would juice defender help?

Did u try that recommendation to stop sync with contacts and delete dialer data?

Try this it should help.
- Download the App "Proximity Screen Off" (by Shailesh Soliwal).
- open it(see note below) and select the box for "Enable Device Admin" (give permission)
- "Disable in Landscape" selected
- "Enable during call only" NOT selected
- Both "Cover..." boxes are NOT selected
- "Disable Accidental Lock MUST be selected
- For "Timeout", we have 1 second.
- Press the "back" button on the phone
- Chose "Start Service"
This is the fix according to others.

Thanks rcmarks but it seems to be that I want need to do that. what I did was turn off the assisted dialing under the call settings and then I turned off the flip for speaker, the pocket mode and the decrease volume when phone is moved. I do believe now that I have had the best battery life than I ever had. It's a little bizzare to me still though that those things were causing my problem but not just mine my wifes as well was the same scenario. I took the phone off charge this morning and walked out the door for work at 8:45 a.m. It is now 10:07 p.m and my battery is in the yellow with 3 bars left as listed under about phone and battery. This with normal use as I consider normal through my general work day. A little texting a few calls, some web browsing, reading up on fantasy football and such. So, sorry it took so long for me to reply back but yeah, I believe my problem is solved now. And so you know I have done nothing with my contacts or anything else that you guys are suggesting. All that I have done is what I said and that goes for two phones, my wifes and mine. Oh, and yes the dialer does come up after the first phone call whether dialed out or received and the percentage does seem to slowly creep up through the day as mine says 19% now but it is not the most used under the percentages and it doesn't seem to run away anymore nor affect the battery.

Nothing we suggested? Take a look at the first post in the thread. I mentioned I had taken just those steps! LOL

Oh yes, sorry rec your right. When I said that I was primarily meaning the google sync contact stuff though.

Ok, sounds like the Google contacts sync isn't a culprit. I went back and looked at my settings and compared to what has been reported here and elsewhere. Below is a list of my settings to compare since I don't have the Dialer issue (may be one of these settings is the cause?):

Sound Settings (Menu, Settings, Sound):
Vibrate: unchecked
Quiet ring on pickup: checked
Pocket mode: unchecked
Flip for speaker: unchecked
Audible Selection: unchecked
Screen lock sounds: unchecked
Vibrate feedback: unchecked

Call settings (Menu, Settings, Call):
Auto Retry: unchecked
Hearing aids: unchecked
TTY mode: TTY Off
Voice Privacy: checked
-Under Phone Settings:
Edit message: checked
Save to contacts: unchecked
-Under Assisted Dialing
Enable Assisted Dialing: unchecked

Power settings (Menu, Settings, Power):
Fast boot: unchecked

Other than that, wonder if it could be an app many have in common (I highly limit what apps are installed and have less than a dozen total downloaded).

I don't have Google Voice either, and I don't notice the dialer running my battery down.

However, I've noticed that I get a dialer reading of 8-10% every morning before I've even received or made a call. That makes me wonder what the "Dialer" designation is referring to, which I think Frank mentioned in one of his posts. The other thing I've noticed since I started monitoring this is that the dialer uses 9-12% of my battery everyday, regardless of how many phone calls I make or receive. This leads me to believe that the "Dialer" is measuring more than just the actual phone dialer, and that that word represents part of the system software and/or maybe sense. I don't know that this theory is anywhere near the mark, but it's the only reason I can think of to explain what I've seen so far.

So if you reboot and don't make any calls, where and why isn't it needing to run?

What's really strange is that regardless of what I do with the phone (ex. make calls or not), I now rarely if ever see the dialer listed under battery use. I do see it briefly (in single digit percent) right after first booting up, but it's no longer listed shortly thereafter. I would think that is normal behavior. What isn't is the high usage or seeing it continually in high percentages. Again, what commonality is there for those experiencing the issue? Is it a setting or an app?

If you look at the Dialer permissions, there are quite a few things it's involved with, so it stands to reason it may show up under battery use depending on various factors, although it shouldn't be very high.
