Delete Facebook and FB Messenger Apps.

I did the Uninstall Updates and Disable on Day 1 that I got my phone. When I do need to use FB I simply bookmarked the FB website and added the icon to home screen. Took all of 1 minute.

S6 battery still stinks though :(

My Verizon version of the S6 did not have them pre installed. I had to install them from the play store.

Really? My Verizon version DID have them installed and it sucks. I wish I could download the version from the play store.

How would it be any different? As soon as you see an update for the App in the Play Store them you've got the latest version, just like everyone else.

Because you can't use apps like greenify to shut it down when you want. It's a system app that you can never touch unless u disable it. Then you just have to get the Web version. You have more control over it when you download it versus it being a system app.

I agree Facebook app should be removable. Simply cause it's a battery drain. So disable and move on. That's all you can do. Has anybody found a way to get this app to use less battery maybe in the settings?

I just force stopped both twitter and Facebook apps, then hit delete, now they are gone. I'm on us cellular.

Try Metal for Facebook. It's a lightweight app that is like a custom browser page for FB. It's much quicker than the mobile site. You also won't need a separate messaging app as it's built into Metal.

Interesting, you're right. Can't uninstall fb... Wow that's really really terrible. Can disable it thru the app tray though. But still I can't believe a stupid social media app would be uninstallable. That makes zero sense to me.

All Android phones, at least in the U.S, that came with something like OS Release 5.5 and later came with FB pre-installed and there's no simple way to get rid of it. Sure, you can force stop/disable in settings but it will restart every time you reboot your phone. And if notifications are turned on it uses a helluva lot of data. So when your not at home or around a hot spot for long periods of time watch out. Alternately you can go into "My Apps" in the Google Play Store and uninstall there. It's not a clean uninstall, but it's a more permanent disable than through Settings.

It's not built into the system, it is locked into the phone by your cell phone provider. The big question is what app will remove it without rooting your phone... SHould be ILLEGAL for them to force ANY application on a user if it is not a required part of the OS PERIOD!. Like many others here have said it is MY damn phone, so unless FB wants to start paying for my phone and my phone bill I want THEIR **** OFF! How many agree with me?

Anyone interested in starting a world wide petition to the FCC and see if we can get a regulation or law passed to stop companies from doing this ****? Nothing will happen if we all just keep ******** on blogs...we have to take action. I am willing to offer my web development skills and time to help if anyone wishes to try and stop this insanity.

AT&T has locked them into the phone like they do their own apps or like Samsung does with a few of their apps. The most you can do is disable them, would should kill most everything the apps do. It's the same way with the Uber app, though at least a great deal of people use Facebook compared to Uber.

Facebook likely paid AT&T to lock them onto the device. It's not the cardinal sin of bloatware since more then a vast majority likely use Facebook on the S6 but it's still annoying as hell. I ought to be able to do what I want with my $700+ phone without having to do things that will void the warranty and could brick the phone.

I'm drom holland and i have bought my galaxy s6 form the store with no provider. So i have a phone who is simlock free. When i bought it i needed to download the facebook app. But i can't remove it. I think i remove my facebook account because this is not acceptable
