Deleted images are showing up in Instagram Gallery

I deleted some camera images from my gallery, but in Instagram when you go to post a photo from your gallery the images are still there.

I want these gone completely. Is there a recycle bin I can empty? Also it seems like other apps that use images can get to these files as well.

I have a OPO running Lollipop.

How did you delete the pictures? From within the stock Gallery app, or the Google Photos app? Were any of these photos auto-backed up to Google Photos?

I have the same issue. I deleted them from the gallery, and i dont have google photos so they arent backed up there. I even tried reinstalling instagram but the deleted photos are still in the insta gallery
