I can't figure out how to do it...only lets me delete one at a time. I've tried the menu button...long press and everything I've done on my old phone but to no avail. Sorry if this is a repeat thread...I'm kind of a noob

Wish I could help, on the Evo4GLTE you just select dealer at the bottom and each time you press on the picture an x in red shows up. You the press delete all after your last selection.

hit the menu button when u are in the gallery you want then hit select item. then just simply hit the pics you wanna get rid of and delete.

It's so simple. When you are in the gallery simply press and hold one of the pictures you want to delete. After that it rectangles the one you selected. From there just start selecting more pics and then hit the delete (trashcan icon) button.

David,
You must not be doing something right.

This is what it looks like after you long-press one of the pictures in an album, and then select a few.

This is the current version of the Gallery, at least, on 4.1.2 (Verizon MF1 build).

Except that (and this came up for another difficulty. Something about downloading pictures) there is no trash can icon. Long press also has no affect. I'm able to select picts, in that there's a check mark in the box in the upper right hand corner of the picture, but then all I can do with them is share them or watch the slide show. I need to actually delete multiple photos at a time in the gallery in Galaxy S3 version 4.1.2. Otherwise there's just dozens of pictures that are related to each other, but not included in the albums they're supposed to be included within. It's a little frustrating. I'll post a reply to this with the relevant screenshot as soon as it comes through to my e-mail. Yet another source of frustration stemming from the difference between what I want to do with my phone and what I know how to do with it.

Bizarre - after long-pressing one item in the Gallery (the one whose version is shown in my previous post) I get the checkboxes shown and the trashcan icon in the upper right.

Hi GSDer,
I clicked all the photos I would like to delete but then, how to I delete them. I can't seem to locate the delete button.. :(
thank you

This works, but what if I want to delete all 1000+ pictures on my phone? I don't want to click on every one of them. Thoughts? I would be nice if there was a 'select all' menu option.

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
I have the exact same problem as you. Since there is no Select All option on the phone, I've hooked it up to my desktop & "view files on device". Depending on whether you've been storing your photos on the SD card or on the camera, go in "Card" or "Phone". Either way, inside there is a "DCIM" folder. In this folder your photos are stored. Select all and hit delete! Takes just a minute.
Hope that helps!

Thanks, I did figure this out. Doesn't excuse the inability to do it from the phone interface. Also, with KitKat, they have removed the ability for applications to write to / delete from the SD card, so I can't even you Astro File Manager to do it. I haven't tested it to confirm, but I don't think it even allows deleting stuff on the SD card through a computer with a USB cable connection. So the solution is to remove the SD card and go to the DCIM folder using a card reader and deleting the files that way.

It sure would be a lot easier if there was a 'select all' option in the gallery view.

when ur inside the gallery hit the back button until you see your folders.. Camera folder download, videos etc. hold ur finger down on the camera folder mine has 868 pictures in it. U will see the trash can icon show up. It will say one item selected but will delete all items in that selected folder.

You've probably figured this out by now or moved on to a new device but checking back here all these months later I just saw this and felt the need to reply. You did have the ability to select all. You simply select one photo then tap the "1 Selected" at the top of the screen and it will select all items. It's not a missing feature, it's just that you were unaware of how to select all. Besides, in all reality most people would be deleting folders or deleting large quantities of photos from a computer unless you just want them all gone. But the option to select all and delete from the phone was always available. And you could always do it from the My Files as well.

Thanks, no I had not discovered that. How utterly unintuitive! Checking again, I do see a little box left of the '1 selected' that I am sure was not there before, as that would have been something I would have tried clicking (but not the words '1 selected', again how unintuitive!).

Regards,
Jeff

It's just the opposite that I would expect, but I opened the photo gallery and hit the trash icon first. That brought up all my photos to select from and a dialog box to select DELETE.

you can press and hold one pic to select then at the top left of that month a small round circle appears click on that and it will select most all go through and select any that were missed then go to the top right and click on the trash OR you can click on the share icon and send it to an other storage location like One Drive or Google Drive..:

Are you on a tablet because im am and these dont help

Welcome to Android Central! Which device do you have? Different devices often have different gallery apps, with different menus and options. This thread is in the Galaxy S3 forum, so it is clearly different from the device you have.
