Deleting original email account on EVO

I would like to pass along my EVO to my sister. When I select to delete my email account (the original one on the phone) the EVO notes doing so will reset the phone.

Just curious if this means it will delete the apps I have downloaded. If so,can I connect the EVO to a PC and download the apps to put back on the EVO once the email account is deleted.

As far as I know, the only way to delete your main Gmail account is to reset the device because is the account that the phone is registered under.
I created an account that I only use to register the device. I disabled all syncs on that account. In case I have to delete my good Gmail account it won't make me reset my device.
In order to do this, I had to reset the device the first time to switch it to my new account.
I haven't been able to find a way to backup the apps on my stock device.
