Exact same story here. Ordered on Sat and everthing was fine until this morning. Now it says backordered with expected availability on 4/10. Fingers crossed, everything is still fine, but now I'm nervous. The hopeful side of me says "great, maybe that means it really will ship on 4/10!"

Mine does too and I ordered in the first 5 mins. Wen I initially called to order before the preorder started they satiated the phone was listed as backordered then as we'll. The customer service agent stated that this is the status they put items in when they don't have the shipping date.
My guess is that the is a limitation in their order fulfillment software preventing them from putting in a future shipping date so they had to do this to prevent the erroneous shipping dates that everyone has been seeing from showing up on the order status page.

Both my orders now say backordered. I'm guessing this is because they don't want to keep updating the dates until they actually get the device. I'm thinking at some point all the orders will say backordered.
Just placed my order today through HTC One? Developer Edition (Pre-Order Today!) | HTC Online Store (US) for dev edition, here's to hoping that 4/10 availability has some truth to it and i'll actually get one for not being anywhere near first to order it.
Only you would know this. Everyone doesn't have a lot of media they care about having with them all the time. Others do. Look at what you have, decide if you plan on keeping it with you then decide on the device. Its up to you.

I haven't been able to fill up my 32 gig SD card in my Evo LTE, so I don't think I'll be able to overdo the 64 gig developer edition anytime soon. Although I might start loading up video podcasts, because I think that might be the only kind of video I might watch on the small screen.

Mine says the exact same thing. I ordered Saturday also. I'm hoping since it was supposed to not ship until the 18th that this is just a glitch in their system. It's kind of weird that they can't just say it will ship on the 18th and be done with it.
I'm sure they don't know when they themselves will receive the phones so the 18th is tentative.

If anyone is still interested in using the coupon for the free case and overnight shipping..
i was able to use the Live chat function on letstalk.com and have them added to my order in 2 min.. didnt have to wait on the phone..
Also was told that the One is scheduled to be release for shipping on the 18th..

Man the unlocked versions are out of stock, I hope they get more so that I can order and use my code for a free case and shipping.
