DEVICE in my CONTACTS

I noticed recently that in my contacts, there is a new source of contact information that I can't turn off called DEVICE.

How did it get there, and how can I remove it or at least NOT display the information from it?

Welcome to Android Central! Most phones have a "Device Account" or "Phone Account." This account can store contacts, but they don't sync with Google, so I find it to be not that useful. Some people like using it because they don't want their contacts stored in Google, but it's a problem if something happens to the phone and those contacts weren't backed up anywhere.

If you open the People app and tap Menu, there should be an option to select which account's contacts to display.
