Device manager does not find my phone

I have a samsung galaxy note 5. Device manager will not find my phone from my laptop. What is weird when i go to locate, on my phone it says device manager has located my phone but on the laptop it says it can not find it. Also when i try to ring the phone , the phone will make a little tick sound. I hope someone can help me.

I own a LG G3 and I live in Cali.. Android device manager, nor Google Play store/settings does not see my LG G3 in the list. Looking in the phone, it says my phone was activated in memphis?? WHat do I do?

Had the same problem before except it would accept a "find" command from my laptop when my screen was unlocked. I found out that in a recent update, Samsung put application/battery optimization on as default. This will stop most functions from completing tasks when the screen locks in order to save battery and RAM resources. How to fix would be to go into your battery settings, hit optimization and then turn app optimization off. It worked after that for me.

It would be nice if Google mentioned somewhere that the Ring My Device command won't override notifications being on silent. They just say it will ring your phone "at full volume." No, it won't. Grrrr.... >:(

thankyou ......i checked in to show the devices in Google play setting and its now appearing in android device manager

I went to google settings and turned on the erase and lock and location. I later went to the android device manager and it still could not find my phone. I thought if I could find the history of my location, it would help me narrow down where I last was when I lost my phone. all it shows is the last time it was online. The device should have a built in system that auto saves you information with out you having to do anything. Too many phones and devices are getting lost or stolen and never recovered. This is madness.

Is there any way to do this when you don't have the phone? I've never heard of this before and so haven't done it. My phone won't locate after being stolen last night.

Was having the same issue. Everything turned on for finding my device but in browser I was not able to find it, but on mobile it worked. Then I tried locating it in INCOGNITO window in my browser and suddenly it worked!!! But only in incognito. I hope this help you guys, because answering this question was the only motivation for registering to this forum ;-)
