Running 2.3.4 on Sense 2.1. This started happening to me earlier this week. Anytime I try to open the dialer using the phone softkey it will crash. The process android.process.acore stops unexpectedly every time. Restarting doesn't help. Also, the built-in People app wont open at all, I just get a blank screen and a constant loading... placeholder. Contacts don't show up as names and pictures in GO SMS Pro anymore, just their phone numbers and empty pictures. Anybody else run into this before?? Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

It sounds like another part of the same hole in the code that has been running rampant since the gingerbread update. Here's my best suggestion: 1) make sure auto back up and restore is checked under settings ---> privacy (looks like a fence) 2) make sure you have your contacts backed-up somehow, there are really 2 options use back up manager from Verizon or have them all in Google as contacts. Since you can't get it to the people app and I would guess you moved them over from a different Verizon phone using back up manager I say make sure it is still active and when this is all done get on a computer and enter them all in to Google manually especially if you plan to stay with the Android platform. 3) go to settings ---> accounts and sync. Tell it to sync all accounts and wait patiently for the little circle arrows at the top to stop spinning and go away. 4) while you wait go into your app drawer click on the downloaded tab and make a list of those apps just in case the back up and restore doesnt work. 5) do a factory reset of your phone. Two ways to do this too, under privacy in the settings tab or by powering down your phone and then turning it back on while holding down the up volume rocker (it may be the down volume rocker I can never remember) whichever way it is you'll end up on a white scree then use the volume button to go down and select factory reset and push the power button to confirm. Be sure whichever way you go not to reformat your SD card as well. It'll askbif you want to tell it no. When it's done go through the setup process just like you did when you got the phone make sire to turn on automatic backup and restore in the setup of the phone. Probably should make sure you connect to wifi right away because the market should start downloading all of your apps shortly after you sign into your Google account. Once you are all set up again and this is the most important step call HTC tell their tech support team what happened what you had to do to fix it
