Did Google kill my Outlook Contacts?

For most of the time I've had my P6P, I have been able to access my Outlook contacts and use them as my default address book and for saving new contacts. Suddenly, it's gone. Did a recent Update remove this functionality? SUPER annoying, as I never have, and never will, use Gmail for anything but a place to sign up for things that may turn into a spam collector.

Have you checked that your Outlook account is properly signed onto and syncing contacts? Since Outlook accounts are usually corporate addresses, has there been any change in your IT policies if so? I the contacts app have you checked the Outlook contacts aren't hidden/disabled?

The account is set up to sync automatically. When I opened Contacts in the past, the Account icon in the top right corner could be toggled between my Google account, and Outlook. I have always kept the Outlook account in use, but now the ability to switch is gone, even though Outlook shows in my Default Contacts in Settings. It feels like Google is trying to shove Gmail Contacts down my throat, just like Apple "discourages" the use of non-Apple apps.

Since I can still use my other accounts for contacts, the latter statement is just not true. Are your Outlook contacts visible on the contacts app? Are sync settings correct and unchanged in Outlook (i.e. Server-side; for instance the ability to sync events with the local calendar has to be enabled and allowed by the server policy... Perhaps a similar thing is not enabled for contacts?)

My Outlook Contacts are no longer available in the Contacts app, as they used to be. I have not changed any of my settings, assuming this was some kind of Update that changed things.

I have always used Outlook as the place to save New Contacts as it automatically updates them on my computer Outlook app, and vice versa. I would occasionally notice my Google icon appearing in the top right corner of the phone app, and immediately switch it back to the Outlook so any new contacts would save in my Outlook account, not Gmail. That ability is now gone.

Have you asked your employer's IT department if they changed anything?

Since I'm self-employed, that's me, and why I'm here ;).
So, this is a personal Outlook account? With an email address of something like "emailname@outlook.com"?

Do you access your account any other way? Like on a PC?

You can get to your account online. If so, you can see if the contacts are still actually saved to your account. Have you checked there?

I do access it online. The contacts are still there, but Google has somehow modified them. May had street addresses, and a lot of that info is now gone. But I have never lost the ability to view my Outlook addressbook within the phone app on my Pixel 6P, until now.

A separate problem has been that every few months, random contacts simply disappear. I have had times where I was looking for a text from someone I regularly converse with, only to find their texts are only showing up under a phone number, which makes it difficult to recognize. The reason is their name is no longer in my Contacts list, poof, just gone. I spoke to Verizon about this and they admitted, it's been a problem with Google.

Good suggestion. If you're not using a Gmail account, try using the Outlook app instead. It's free. It has its own contact and calendar section, but can sync to the separate contact and calendar apps on the phone.
