Did i Root?

I used unrevoked and it rebooted and everything. but at the end it had a black screen with white lines on the sides. i had to disconnect from usb and power it back on was i successful of rooting?

yes you rooted, you just have to install the one of the recoveries in the below link for custom recovery to work:
Index of /~berzerker/bamod

so how do i install it?

through bootloader...rename the file PB31IMG
