Did you guys get the insurance?

Anyone get the Best Buy warranty? I did, $10 a month but no deductible.

Always for the first year unless I have an extra upgrade. I make good money but I can't afford $600 because my wife dropped it...

I bought insurance from Ensquared for my DroidX. It was very simple process and much cheaper than Asurion. They guarantee replacement phones in 2 days also. $58.99 for a year of coverage including theft, accidental breakage, water damage (including submersion) or loss. Cool thing about Ensquared is you have a 90 day window (as opposed to 30 days from Asurion) to add the coverage onto your phone from the day you purchase it. You dont even have to send them any documentation UNTIL you have a claim, so once you purchase the insurance just keep your Packing Slip or Sales Receipt in a safe place. I'm really at peace knowing my X is covered and it's costing me just $4.92/month

This caught my eye. Sounds like a good deal. Their terms and conditions say they can replace "with remanufactured equipment of like kind or quality." But isn't this the case with Verizon or Asurion insurance aswell? Does anyone really get a brand new phone in box as a replacement? I have no insurance (yet...?).

I never received new phones with numerous Bb Storms I went through, always refurbs

I was told by the Rep at the Verizon store that the extended warranty covers the phone for as long as you pay for the coverage not just a second year. Basically they said the assurion coverage can be for anything but if you also have the extended warranty and the issue is a manufacturing defect you can save yourself a deductible.

So if you just have the assurion you pay a deductible no matter what happens. If you have just the extended warranty then you are screwed if the phone gets stolen or run over. Now if you have both you are completely covered and can save a deductible if it breaks and isn't something you did to it.

Still with the warranty you are paying during a year in which it is already covered. In the end I doubt many people would continue either coverage for much more then 2 years. At this point its getting harder and harder to keep a phone for the full two years without swapping let alone longer.

That's the only reason I ever thought of just going with the assurion...chances are in a year when I am due for an upgrade I will be going for the latest and greatest thus no need for am extended warranty. I haven't had a phone longer than a year for the past 5 or 6 years now.

Yeah I dropped the extended warranty when I ordered my X. Now that its only about an additional $30 off waiting for the NE2 over the annual upgrade, its just not worth the wait. No reason to spend $24 on a service I am not going to use. In fact now looking at the numbers its $4 more expensive to upgrade after year assuming you need that warranty replacement on month 13. I think latest and greatest beats out $4.

first time for me ever getting insurance. But my wife lost her BB STorm in a freak wave on the gulf coast, and she was stuck using an old flip-phone until the 1.5 years ran out on our new-every-two. Try typing on one of those when you are used to decent keyboard! This Dx is too expensive to have to get a full-priced non-contract replacement.

I guess I live life on the edge.

No insurance, no case, and I sleep like a baby.

Your mileage will most certainly vary.

State Farm is an option, listen to this....

I called State Farm yesterday and lucky i did. i asked about cell phone insurance and my rep said they just got a memo regarding this and as of Sept.1st 2010, they will no longer carry this type of insurance cuz they were losing their *** on claims.but here is the jist of it:

The insurance is like an add on, like jewelry coverage and it in no way affects your home owners insurance or premiums.since i', grandfathered in, i am eligible for 1 claim on my phone, after my first claim i'm done since its no longer offered by State Farm.
it is $ 6.50 per $100 you want to insure, example:my X retails for $600 and i insure it for that i pay $39.00 per year with NO DEDUCTABLE. and get a $600.00 check towards a "NEW" phone or something else.

sounds alot better than Asurion. call your insurance agent and check it out.
