dude, you just got so owned. I've gotten higher than the 150 cap on 528 east of the airport (no 4g there) at home, I do get around 150 upload (actually a little less) but thats cause I'm in a dungeon.

Anyone can tell that the claim of picture of screenhot of over 150 up, when the down is 7000 is bogus[. go look up some standards for 3G and get back to us.

Anyone with speed test can test this scam. run speed test on 3g, while test results are up, switch off 4g and your screen will look like this.

i believe it, because at one point, my phone was not capped either. for days after being made aware of the cap, my phone was not. after an update, it then was capped. i believe that he isnt making it up.

I was referring to s side by side picture of two logs. the first picture second set showed a download of 7000, 7mps. that was someone posting non 3g results.
Also on vpn I can get 700 up 3g on epic and generate a video just like that. I should also point out that the original test models had no cap.

Right, which would show this is a Sprint generated issue, not Samsung. Its a Port 80 thing (which is why your VPN shows better upload speed). In reality, browsing, downloading and other actions that don't use port 80, will be equal to the Evo. This is why I don't notice a speed decrease (but rather a speed increase) over my Hero which has much better Speed test scores.

Strange, I'm not seeing the same results as you. I don't see any difference while connected via VPN over 3G. I've also tested FTP (multiple clients) & sending email via Touchdown and my testing has shown similar upload speeds using any method. My Evo is about four times faster than my Epic at uploading anything.

Haven't been all the way through the thread ... but I'm not having this issue, as far as I can tell. I don't know exactly why.

Using the SpeedTest.net app, I get:

1384 kbps Down
657 kbps Up

Using the Dallas TX server, with a ping of 175 ms

Baseband version says: S700.0.5S.DI07

I'm asking because if they both use the same chip, if somehow, Sprint/Samsung goofed by using the same programming used in the Intercept to only allow EVDO Rev 0, in the Epic too.

I wish there someone would tear down both phones to see what chips they're using....

I am? Don't you mean you have some disagreement with the 99% pf people -- and sprints entire device team group -- getting about 150?

As far as demonsration head over to xda, there are a couple of way to crib a +700 result.

the fact is that it is not speed test that generated users "seeing a problem" it is normal use of apps where they saw the Epci has dog slow speeds, and then ran speed test to figure out why.

Look a the comments on qik, it works on 3g on Evo usually fine and it io junk on Epic.

Qik works perfect on my epic. It works just as well if not better then skype on my computer (minus quality). There has never been lag or any other issues no matter what my 3g signal is. Even with 1 bar it works just fine. I have even had mine up agianst othr evdo rev a phones and its just as fast yet it does synthetically test at 150kbps.

I've tried uploading the same pics from evo/epic to picasa and also tried emailing the same pics with both devices, all on 3g. Evo wins EVERY time.

I'd love to see if they use the same chip for 3G. If they do, and that's what's causing the EPIC to be capped, it might be a good thing for the Intercept.

Assuming the Problem with the Epic is that it uses the same chip as the Intercept and they programmed the EPIC to EVDO Rev 0 only by mistake, then the cap on the Intercept can be lifted too ....

I live in Renton, WA (a little south east of Seattle) and get 3G DLs between 611 and 1964Kbps with UL running 160 - 212Kbps.

My 4G speeds go between 4547 and 6175Kbps down with uploads running between 953 and 1941Kbps.

My old Samsung Ace (i325) WinMo phone got slightly better uploads (180-260) on 3G, and slightly worse downloads (350 - 1200).

S700.0.55.DI07 baseband version.
