I heard the major change in the 2.3.4 update was a new radio. Those of you who took that update or flashed that radio manually, did you notice anything particularly different in your reception?

I did. My signal strength went from -93 dBm to -78 dBm at my office and my data speeds went up a lot. I used to get about 600kbps down and 400kbps up. Now I get 1200 down and 950 up, and I have gotten as good as 1700 down at my office.

The new radio definitely helped me. What I have heard is that in really crappy areas it just cannot and did not help much.

I'm skeptical about reports of any dramatic change in reception from a radio upgrade. Of the last 5 phones I've had, I've never had a radio firmware update make one ounce of difference.

I did not notice a general change and at home, where signal strength has always been crap, it may have gotten worse with the update.

no change for me either, but i get sh@tty reception in my area anyways. I still get 3g, but -103 is usual for me.

When I flashed and then went through the reprogram it increased my signal strength noticably and I have fewer issues with in call quality as a result.

I did not notice a change in reception. But what I have noticed (not that it hasn't been there all along) is that when I send a SMS/MMS is that the phone will switch from 3G to 1X during send/receive. Other than that I will offer up that I have never really had much of a problem with call quality.

edit... Where can I find my phone's signal strength?
