Different device encryption and lock screen passwords?

I currently own the Samsung Galaxy S4 running on Android Lollipop 5.0.1. I see that whenever I encrypted my device, I would be required to use a long password for my lock-screen. That is understandable because it would improve the encryption strength.

However, is it possible to separate the encryption and lockscreen passwords? I know Apple uses that technique on iOS.

I plan on getting the Galaxy S7 soon and I was wondering whether or not I could encrypt my device if I wish to use my fingerprints to unlock it.

I don't think there is a way to have two (2) different passwords. You'll need to use only one.
