Different notification sounds from what l have selected

[Android Central Question]

After the latest OS update (July 2019) for my pixel xl 2, my sound notification for WhatsApp is different than what l have selected. I have uninstalled WhatsApp a few times but it remembers the sound. I have spoken to Google and they don't know. The only thing that l haven't done is reset to factory which l don't want to. Any suggestions please

It's most likely not an Android problem - all of my alarms, notifications, etc., are what they were when I first set up my P2. It's most likely a WhatsApp problem. They're at android@support.whatsapp.com

Same thing happened to me after the last 2 updates on the beta. I don't use WhatsApp but it messed up several other tones and changed them to something I never heard of. Phone, Textra and a couple of others were affected. Instead of a name for the new tone it had a number when I checked it. I merely changed them back after a few head scratches as to WTF is going on. Anyway was an easy fix for me, maybe for OP also?.
