Dim red led to the left of the Verizon logo?

Last night for the first time I noticed a dim sort of flickery red light just to the left of the Verizon logo on the front of my DInc2. It was while I was on a call if that makes any difference.

Anyone else notice this or know what this is?

Its an infrared sensor.... its used to shut off the screen when placed next to your face so you don't accidentally press any buttons while on a call. Next time you make a call... place your finger over it... you will see the screen turn on/off.

That's what I thought so I covered it but nothing happened. Strange I've never noticed it in 6 months of having this phone
