With a completely stock phone.. I believe the answer is no... an ruu should function like updating your favorite game... (but a tad slower and longer)... But everything intact..

Even with s-off I think it will come out same result...

Need stock OS with stock recovery or ota update will fail. Instructions on how to achieve that are all over the place, Google it

I'd like to know as well, and for those of you who are acronymically challenged, OTA stands for OVER THE AIR.

Manually loading the RUU doesn't count.

I had seen an article suggesting that EVO owners advance their time/date settings by like two weeks and wham, they move to the front of the line in the OTA release queue. Any idea if that actually works?

I need help, I'm a n00b that rooted. I tried to restore to stock by downloading the pb31 file and adding the zip to the root of my SD. when I try to restore it just errors out and gives me the standard bootloader.

I cant install the radio update either.

To make things worse, the RUU is not recognizing my phone. I need to either install update from RUU or Unroot so I get the OTA (on rooted evo my friend got the OTA somehow maybe verizon will allow too)?

I searched for solutions for 2 days before posting this but have come up empty handed. I reformatted the SD to Fat32 etc. Does anybody have any ideas?
