1. Go to My Verizon, select "activate or switch a device".
2. Enter the device ID
3. Enter the Sim info (if a 4GLTE device) or request a new sim
4. Select the appropriate plan
5. Backup if desired.
6. Confirm changes.

Thanks. Do you have to use the web tool or activating? What about people doing the SIM swap method for Best Buy or Amazon orders. It sounded like they just get the phone, pop out the SIM that came with it, and pop in the SIM from their current phone. Does this not work alone?

If you have an active sim then you can swap it into a new device, no need for going through the activation process online. This is more for those with basic phones or non 4GLTE who bought a 4GLTE device off contract.

Would it be this easy going from a 4GLTE smartphone back to a basic phone? Or would I need to call VZW to do that?

Thanks!

You can do that online as well

Should I expect any hiccups at all if going from a 4GLTE smartphone back to a basic phone? Or doesn't matter?

No problem going back to a basic phone but if you decide to go back to a smartphone then you would have to be on a current smartphone data plan (so you would lose any legacy plan that you were on
