My OnePlus CE 2 Lite 5 G running Android 12 beeps when I perform certain actions in certain apps. I have media sound turned off. But the app sounds appear to be part of the ringtone category.

How can I turn off ALL app sounds on my phone?

I only want my phone to ring, shout when there is an SMS, and sound the alarm when it is time to get up.

Re: Disable app sounds

On most Android phones, Ringtones and Notifications volumes are tied together.

You should be able to achieve what you want by using Do Not Disturb, and setting an exception for alarms and to allow anyone to call or text you.

I am not sure what you are talking about, maybe I have not been clear enough. I am not talking about notifications. Neither am I talking about not wanting to be disturbed.

I want notifications (as much as I enabled them) to sound, as well as the phone to ring.

I don't want apps to make UI sounds.

Not sure what your talking about, apps make sound for notification Not UI that's system sounds like screen locking, screenshot sounds, sound touch etc..

Then I must have a different version of Android than you because on my phone some apps make sounds when I click on UI elements like buttons or links. The facebook app is one example. I found a settings to switch it off, but I was surprised I could ever hear them since I had the media volume turned off and only alarms, rings and notification sounds turned on.

Interesting I was testing this on my 1+7Tpro McLaren edition android 11 using gestures and didn't encounter this on Facebook

I think you're talking about Touch Sounds, which are completely different from notification tones, and cannot be modified (only turned on or off). On most phones, that setting is in Settings>Sound. Is that where you found your setting?

Well, I did not mention notifications until I said "I am not talking about notifications".

I don't want to modify those sounds.

I found a setting within facebook that switched them off, for facebook. (There was only a setting to switch off video sound when playing, which I also switched off and I cannot imagine why anybody would think that would be a useful thing to have on as a default.)

In my phone's settings there is a "Sound & vibration" and this is where "Media" volume is off and "Ringtone", "Notifications", and "Alarms" are on. But for some reason touch sounds do not count as "Media" but apparently as one of the other three, I forgot which one.

There is also a category "Haptics and tones" which is turned off but also doesn't affect touch sounds.

I only mentioned that Touch Sounds are separate from notification tones as a distinction, and as a way of thinking out loud, as it were. It's not like I'm ignoring what you say.

What other apps are doing this for you? I want to see if I can reproduce this, although it wouldn't be an exact reproduction of your situation since I don't have a OnePlus phone (but maybe @mustang7757 could try to do it on his McLaren).
