Im coming from an iphone and all my pictures were sync from an iphone to google contacts but the htc one doesnt like the resolution and its giving me the dotted pictures on my contacts. I added new pictures on my phone for contacts but everytime someone calls it keeps showing up as a google contact. I tried to disable the sync for google contact but still shows up. Is there a way to completely disable google contacts and show stored phone contacts? or is there a way to transfer contacts with pictures to google contacts?

You can fix the google pics, which would be the right way. Go to gmail.com on your computer. Click the drop down below the google logo in top left of screen and choose contacts.

Go to the contact you want to add/change picture for. At the top of the screen, click on the "Groups" icon.

Click "Starred in Android".

Now add the picture. It will sync to the phone at correct resolution. It will also add the contact to your "Favorites" on the phone. If you don't want them as a favorite, you can go back after the high res pic has synced and remove them from favorites.

I prefer to not use Google contacts at all. It seems like a hassle just to update photos on the computer. Changing or adding pictures on my phone is faster and more convenient.

I guess. Until you change phones or devices. Or lose your phone or want that contact and you don't have your phone on you for some reason. A few minutes to fix contact photos and you never have to worry about not having access again.

My contacts are backed up . In the contacts app theres an option to import contacts so any new contacts will be backed up manually. The main issue is how the HTC one displays call info when someone calls. Contacts on Google that has a blank picture will show blank even though my phone contact has a picture. Importing my contacts only imported info but not the picture. So I would prefer to disable Google contacts from displaying and I can manually backup my contacts.

In your contacts, click the "phonebook" menu, then unclick google contacts. If you don't have all the contacts copied over to your phone from google, you'll have to do that under the three dot menu and "manage contacts". If you have dupes, you fix that in manage contacts as well.

I looked under the phonebook menu and its unchecked. I just found a quick trick. I complete wipe my google contacts. I rebooted my phone then backed up my contacts back to google contacts. I lost all the pictures on google contacts but the contact info is more important. The phone still show as a google contact when someone calls but the contact picture is the one linked on the phone which is what I wanted. I kept the google contact sync off and unchecked from my phone. My contacts are backed up to google contacts so I do have access to it on any device.
