Disappointed (S20 ultra)

My wife has the note 9.
She uses the pen a lot.
She likes where the FPS is on the back.

She don't want a new phone after seeing the new phone's and the changes they have made.

She dont want the FPS on the front.
She had best buy to totally disable Bixby
I think Samsung is going to do more and more with Bixby making me leave Samsung.
Seems everytime There is a update, something don't work like it used to on the phone.

The camera has grown on me. I do a lot of estimates and take pictures at all estimates. The camera has turned out to be better than my S10 Plus. Still could use improvements. My biggest complaint now with this phone is it's so bulky. I have never had a case on any of my phone's and I actually have a case on the S20 ultra now because it's so heavy in the hand after reading news or watching YouTube that it slides down my fingers. The case helps. Have a dbrand leather skin coming this week. Will try to not have a case on after I apply the skin. On paper this phone isn't that much heavier than my S10 Plus ceramic but it feels very heavy. I took out my S10 Plus last night to feel the difference and I felt like I was actually using the newest and most sleek phone when holding the S10 Plus lol

Dropping off my Ultra 512gb return to Samsung today. As much as I loved the new shiny toy. I just feel that I would rather wait for the Note 20 when these camera issues are fixed right out the box. Also wasn't in love with the round edges for watching stuff.

Interesting, the rounded corners is something I really dislike about my Pixel. Not really noticed it on the S10 but I too do prefer the Note screen format.

To each their own.I have had note 4,7,8,9 and now note 10+.I also have had S8+.S9+,and just traded in my S10+ for my Black Ultra 128mb.no dissappointment here.enjoying the phone.Just wish more 5G in my area but 4G is fine . Camera on phone is fine for my daily needs.I have canon and kodak camera to take on trips and special occasions.

It's true and that's why the S line price has been increasing. I've skipped the s4 and S9 models, but always get the note series. No matter what I just keep coming back.
You can say they test the market with the S series or you could now say they consider the S line the top flagship phone, who knows.

I get both note and S series phones, so I see what both do. I see it they follow each other with tech with each one getting tweaks the other one will get when it releases. The note used to be the one that got the higher specs, but I see that tend changing, just my thoughts

The S6 was actually when they first removed the sd slot and got some much backlash they brought it back lol. The note 10 made it easy due to cheaper price and high base memory.
The S-series is their main line whatever they do with Note is for small percentage of market. Heck the Note was not even released in Europe for some versions. Any experiment they want to do they do with Note line. For Samsung S line is more important and Note line is whatever and it'll appeal to small subset of hardcore fans. But for the last couple of years even the Note line is nothing other than little improved S line with S-Pen. Even Qualcomm release cycle for newer SoC is lined with the S series. We'll see how they will do this year, but with foldables being the new hype I believe Note line will continue be just S-series with S-Pen and minor changes, unless they want to brand one of their crazy foldables as Note line which I doubt.

Where did they experiment idea of crazy big screens, edge screens, no headphone jack, no SD card etc? All Note line. They will try any changes with Note first and then decide what to push to their main S series.

Was waiting when this thread would popup, as i assume lots would be returning the S20 Ultra lol, i did mention that it's not worth the price the Note10 Plus and S10 Lines are just better.

It's basically the same price as those... Compare the S20 phones to the note 5G. Most are forgetting the S20's have the 5G which had a premium price on the 10's. From what I'm finding, we might be seeing $100 more for the ultra.

He's been here bashing the phone since before anyone had one in hand.

It just gets old, lol. This phone is amazing, fast. Comparing prices from note 10+ release date to these prices I would pay the extra $100 for the ultra 512.

The camera works great for what it is, a phone camera. It's not intended to be a professional camera.

People need to realize that it's not sustainable for Samsung to make something groundbreaking every 6 months. I appreciate them for always trying to improve their products so quick as the tech junkie in me gets bored quickly. I also like that their trade in promos are competitive which makes me feel better about spending so frequently. I never pay full price for my gadgets and I've had a ton.

Given all the credits and promotions that came with the S20 Ultra, I think it was a fair investment that should only get better with time. I mean, I pre-ordered and traded in my N9. I got $200 from Samsung and $310 from T-Mobile. With the Samsung credits, I scored a Chromebook at a huge discount. With the T-Mobile credit, I'm either getting a Pixel 3a or putting it towards a 4a when it comes out... you know, to cover the subpar camera the S20 currently has. All in all, I've gotten more for upgrading that sticking with my Note 9. Yes, it's not the best right now, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's going to get better, either because Samsung makes it right, or because the community takes it into their own hands and makes the proper mods to fully utilize the specs this phone comes with.

no, they're not. they're not better in any quantifiable metric. better value? perhaps you could argue that, but not from a technical standpoint

Believe what you want your opinion against my opinion, 1,400 for that phone isn't worth it plus a broken focus camera, i will leave it here, no use in saying the truth.

I wouldn't be buying a phone for a camera in the first place

Right i wouldn't either i barely use my camera, but lots are returning theses phones since some realized it's not worth it if already on a S10 or Note10 Plus, this didn't happen to last years model .

Edit: and that is why this thread is here big disappointment.

So my thinking is those people are buying a phone expecting perfect camera.

Yes. Every year or two there's always the "big thing"... one year it's gotta be great display, etc. Lately and now got a full head of steam, it's the camera... gotta have a great camera.

Last decade for me... camera has been important... I watched and basically documented my daughter who will be 17 this year from an iPhone 1 to my Note 8. The phone has been priceless because of it. I don't see the camera being so lightly taken going forward for most.

And there's the people that do "The Gram" or the kids that do "Tic Toc" or however it's spelled lol. Good camera will be a top two reason for many going forward. No doubt about it.

I keep looking at the Ultra when I'm at Best Buy... don't think it's a bad phone or a terrible camera. But I haven't been compelled to pull the trigger.

So my thinking is those people are buying a phone expecting perfect camera.

Why not? I use my camera a lot and is very important to me and many others that buy smartphones
