Discontinuing Note Series?

I doubt the Note is going anywhere. Everyone is saying it makes no sense, but Samsung has made it their business to release models that make little sense from our viewpoint, and they continue to do so. I think they recognize that there is a cult following for the Note so they will continue to cater to that group. Also, they rely on a release schedule in August to make headlines right before the announcement of a new iPhone.

Maybe they decide the regular Note isn't needed, but there must have been enough sales of it last year for them to come out with another one this year. But with the gimped specs, I feel like this model is there to ease the price sticker shock of the Ultra version and they intend that most people would get the Ultra version because Note fans, like I mentioned, is sort of a cult that'll throw money at it. However, it seems that a lot of people liked the smaller Note 10 last year so it seemed like a no brainer they would make a Note 20 (which in my opinion is way too gimped if the leaks are true). But Samsung can say that the Note series starts at 999 Euro in marketing.

I think the media starts this buzz out every year that the Note may go away.

I have my doubts about the 'Fold' working out. I always liked the idea of the Fold and the look of it. But it seems like a design, doomed for failure. I haven't been following it's durability so far. So I could be wrong. 😊

The fold is the wrong size and shape. IMO Either the size open or the size closed should be the same screen ratio as a normal HD TV which is the same ratio as my computer monitors.

I miss the days of Samsung having one device which stood head and shoulders above the rest of the Samsung phones and which was viewed as the King of Samsung's jungle. That was the Note. The Note used to be the device which had it all and could do it all.

These days other Samsung devices can lay some claim to being superior to the Note. It started with the Note 8 which had a smaller battery than the S8, for obvious reasons given what happened to the Note 7 but last year it really came home to roost. Suddenly we had a cheaper model Note 10, which IMO devalued the Note brand. Even the Note 10 Plus was devoid of the headphone jack whereas the S10 had the HPJ. This year is a dog's breaKfast. The S20, according to a video I saw, leads the way with some camera specs, in particular, the space zoom. Sure specs are not everything and Samsung claims the N20U zoom is as good if not better, but remember, the Note was once upon a time the undisputed heavyweight spec champion. Then you've got tbe Fold and the advantages that device has over the Note. So which one is best? The fact I'm even asking the question means the Note line has lost some of its lusture.

I'm all for variety but sometimes too much variety can confuse people, which can lead to making the wrong decision. What do you want, a phone that can fold out into a tablet or a phone with a pen? Why not give the consumer both? Samsung should still produce variations if that's what people want but I would like to see the company get back to producing that one device which stands above all others. If that means the Note makes way for the Fold with a pen, so be it. But right now, it's confusion. I'm not the sort of person who has more than one phone for different experiences. I'm the all my eggs in one basket kind of guy. I want my phone to do it all and right now none of the current Samsung line can lay claim to that, relative to the other.
