Discussion for - Root, Recovery, and ROm without touching a computer

Re: Discussion for - Root, Recovery, and ROm without touching a c

Is everything regarding Root in the first post of this thread still relevant and up-to-date? I'm about to attempt my first root.

Also, is there a chance that the phone could get bricked by rooting? Thanks.

Hey newbie here,

It appears the "recovery-RA-GNM-OPT-T-test.img.zip" link is no longer any good. It says item not found or moved...does anybody have a copy they are willing to share or that they can link to.

Thanks

Bump.

Looking for the recovery as well. Couldn't find it elsewhere, all leads point back to the original link in this thread. If anyone has it it would be great if they could upload it again.

Re: Discussion for - Root, Recovery, and ROm without touching a c

Ok so no one seemed to answer my question, so I went looking elsewhere. Here's a video I found for using ROM manager and the clockwork mod recovery worked flawlessly for me (choose optimus one). I went with cyanogen 7 MOD from mik. I know clock in around 1100 on the Quadrant. On a side note I can't go to 864 on the overclock without crashes...still experimenting with the most stable overclock speed. Hope this helps somebody out there.

The link for the video is here.

Re: Discussion for - Root, Recovery, and ROm without touching a c

I can't even get past the first sentence (in terminal emulator, mount -o remount, etc.) I receive the error " mount-o can't be found". I think I can't tell where the spaces are. For example, is there a space between "mount" and "-o remount"? Is it "mount-o remount" or is it "mount -o remount"? Also, are those spaces before the slashes (/)? I've tried typing it so many times... Please advise. Thank-you.

Re: Discussion for - Root, Recovery, and ROm without touching a c

Well. I got past the first sentence. But the second one starting with cat /sdcard "no such file exists". Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thank you very much

Re: Discussion for - Root, Recovery, and ROm without touching a c

I'm totally new to this and the Optimus T is my first phone like this, my previous phone was a Moto V195. Finally made the step up and I am to the steps where the first couple of downloads are needed to do the recovery portion and the thread on Android Forums that was linked to previously in this thread kind of scared me. I have the Flash Image zip file downloaded and was wondering if there was a place to just get the recovery-RA-GNM-OPT-T-test.img.zip file?

This is making me feel so dim. I'll learn as I go along I know but I hate feeling so helpless when it comes to something like this. I know plenty about computers but wow I never expected getting a phone set up could be so complicated.

Re: Discussion for - Root, Recovery, and ROm without touching a c

Unfortunately, these instructions are a bit outdated.

FYI - the reason this forum is so dead is because most members have figured out the Optimus T is very similar to the Optimus One. Most everything for the O1 works with the T.

Re: Discussion for - Root, Recovery, and ROm without touching a c

New to Android phone, read every post here in the thread and didn't try Z4R with my new LG Optimus T, learned a lot, thanks.

Read almost all posts at another site about GingerBreak APK and confirmed that GingerBreak v1.2 worked on LG-P509 Optimus T (2.2 v10l). Many users reported success root with LG Optimus One there.

Re: Discussion for - Root, Recovery, and ROm without touching a c

I've been waiting for about 7 Minutes for Z4root to root. Stuck on "Running exploit in order to obtain root access" Well not stuck. I've selected Permanent Root and I'm running 2.2.2 Stock. How long does it usually take? :-\[/SIZE]

Re: Discussion for - Root, Recovery, and ROm without touching a c

just let you guys know Gingerbreak will work with v10s firmware(android 2.2.2)
[26.04.2011][v1.2] GingerBreak APK (root for GingerBread) - xda-developers
So you're saying this will work on the LG Optimus T with 2.2.2, along with v10S? So can I use GingerBreak as an alternative to z4root? (Right now, z4root hasn't done anything, and I'm willing to give GBreak a try.) Just checking as this is my first time rooting.

Re: Discussion for - Root, Recovery, and ROm without touching a c

For 2.2.2 use Gingerbreak, not Zroot

Re: Discussion for - Root, Recovery, and ROm without touching a c

I can upload the "recovery-RA-GNM-OPT-T-test.img" zip file if anyone needs it still. Either post here or P.M. me and I'll upload it to a filelocker.

I could definitely use it! Can not find it anywhere on the internet. Thanks!
