Discussion: LG V30 and its Potential

Good morning,
I thought we'd talk about one of the most exciting phones of 2017: the iPhone X!
No, I'm kidding. Sorry, that was a bad joke. I really mean the LG V30. We all know LG hasn't had the best track record of out maneuvering their bigger, more successful neighbor, but LG has bred some really interesting phones in the last few years, and set some really neat trends. The first commercial QHD phone, the first commercial dual camera phone, the first commercial secondary display phone (although that didn't really kick off). But every single year, there's always these compromises and these issues that end up pushing Samsung's phones every so slightly ahead. So what's different about the V30?
The V30 isn't setting any trends. It's just doing its very best to BE the very best. It's quite possibly the most beautiful phone released this year (especially that blue) and comes with a set of specs that even make the S8 series shake. Slim bezels; beautiful and ergonomic design; waterproofing and military grade durability; a unique and awesome camera set; the best performance you can find in a smartphone; awesome sound capabilities...and a price that might just go neck and neck with the Galaxy S8+. None of that guarantees success for the V30, unfortunately, but so far I'd say LG has a winner on its hands.
What do you guys think? Discuss!

It has potential and features that are difficult if not impossible to find. Some people are unhappy that they got rid of a few signature features, however there are some definitive improvements. I'd like see it do well be because competition is good for the market. It was my first choice, however I'm planning to get the Pixel 2 XL once I confirm the features and specs.

This would probably be one of the best phones to come out this year, but I have a very strong feeling the screen will be it's demise...P-OLED just won't best Samsung's displays or a really high quality LCD. I'm hoping the Pixle XL2 won't follow suit...

I don't think the POLED is as bad as everyone is fearing it will be. Of course there will be quality issues, there always is (remember the red tints with the S8), but there's a reason LG chose this phone to put its first OLED in a long time. Its the first one that was better than its LCD offerings.

I agree there's that low light issue with the display but from the reviews I saw everyone seems to think it's almost as good as Sammy which is fine by me. That's good enough for me, I don't think it has to be perfect

It doesn't have to be the best display on earth. If it's a high end, QHD OLED display, I won't be downgrading.

What LG needs to do is proper marketing. They have a viable phone on their hands to cater to a market who wants Note sized phones but don't need an S Pen. I'd wager that market is bigger than those who need an S Pen. It's cheaper too, which makes that interesting for that particular market. But the fact of LG's history and poor marketing will drive that market away. They need to spend more on their mobile division.

I agree, LG really has a winner here, but I hardly ever see LG ads anywhere. The AT&T store in my area told me they don't stock LG phones in store anymore, which really made me sad. LG isn't my favorite OEM, by any means, and I've never owned one until now (the V30), but I feel they're so underrated. They're the underdog that's throwing the hard curveballs...that just pass underneath all the big dogs. I've never seen a G6 in the wild but my T-Mobile store said they were selling quite well (just not as good as the Galaxy's). I only see low end to mid tiers, like Stylos (lots of Stylos).

You said it all. They must Rework their whole marketing strategy. Mods, gone, good. Phone V30 is supposed to be so much better. They must get this phone out before Samsung S8 series.
SAMSUNG just does it better.
