Display on while docking

Is there a way you can keep the display on when the phone is on AC power, like as a desk clock? I tried Tasker, set to a long "display timeout" time, which worked with my Nexus, but the Note 3 seems to stay on whether it's plugged in or not. Also - it gives a notification to unplug when it's fully charged - does it hurt anything to keep it plugged in as a desk clock after it's charged?

On Verizon it Settings/Accessory/Desk Home Screen Display

I thought I read about AMOLED burn in. So I would say keeping the display on something as stagnate as a clock would cause some display issues.

Have you tried a dock. If I use my old note 1 desktop dock the phone detects it is docked and runs a clock and daydreams. The day dream keeps it from burning in. I really think what you want is just to use a dock.

That is what the cable I linked does. You can either use the special cable or the dock.

Do you have a link to that cable.

Does it just put it in docking mode or does it have any connections coming off it for audio out and such

It's just a cable that triggers docking mode and it charges. If you have a bulky case, you can get a generic stand and plug this cable in. That will give you the docking mode and the moving clock affect.

The link is in post #5

Thanks. Didn't notice you already posted it. That was exactly what I was thinking. It would be a perfect match for that universal aluminum dock that had a kickstarter recently.
