Display power during a call - am I holding it wrong?

This has happened before but I thought it was my imagination and then last night it happened again and just now I was able to reproduce it....

EVO 4G LTE - not rooted.

I'm on a call - speaker on. Nothing touching phone. It's on the table. The display times out. When I hit the power button to get the display back on the call is disconnected.

How can I get the screen back on without disconnecting the call?

(I'm sure this must be just me being clueless so toss me a clue, would you please?)

Go to settings<accessibility. From there you will probably see you have the power button ends call selection chosen. Uncheck the selection and you should be good to go. I hope this helps.
