Don't have a Note 8, but I can't see a difference between 1080p and QHD screens on a phone unless I hold them unusually close to my face.

I often run my S7 at 1080p, little better battery life is of more benefit to me, but I also admit to not having the best eyesight.

I run stock settings most of the time except when I game or watch video content. Then I turn on high performance mode.

Max it out, even if I don't immediately notice a difference. The only reason to keep it lower would be to save a couple of minutes battery.

I had the optimal settings on until I realized that I could change to max power. I'm going to try it for awhile and see how the battery is.
