Display Turning On and Off Continuously

Two nights ago, for no discernible reason, my LG K10(K420N)'s display began to turn on and off

https://youtu.be/pjLhi2s9vuo

As you can see in the video, I can turn off the display by pressing the power button; it only flickers when the screen is supposed to be on and the display doesn't respond to touch.

Since the moment I saw the bug, there was a window of about 7 hours during which the phone worked perfectly, but it eventually began to glitching out again. A hard reset didn't seem to do anything. The only way I can turn it off is by taking out the battery.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Edit: I've been using this phone for almost a year. Got it new. It's running android 6.0.

Hmm... first, I don't think whatever your issue is, it's a quick fix. The one thing that stands out is the proximity sensor. You can see it firing like crazy before you try to turn on the screen (it's that blinking light up top... it's an infrared beam that digital cameras are able to see). I am just brainstorming here, and I am by no means sure of how your model operates... but if the sensor is going haywire, maybe it thinks it's covered and flicking off the screen, thinking it is preventing a pocket dial or something.

Problem is that my guess is that you'll need to at least take that in somewhere for service... not sure if there is a 'easy' fix here.
