I stumbled upon THIS thread about rubberizing the battery door with plastidip, at first i was weary of spraying anything on there cause i didnt want to mess anything up if i didnt like it.
After testing on a water bottle, it peeled off with no ill effects, i gave it a go in these steps.
1. Get plastidip (5$ at home depot), get something to stick your battery cover too (i used a check box and a bucket
), and get some tape to mask and hold the battery door down.
2. Mask the NFC contacts and chip with tape, but not the whole back side as we want the coating to wrap around the edges to minimize the chance of peeling as time goes on.
3. Wash your hands and the battery door with soap and water. Dont submerge the door though obviously. the goal is to get all grease and oil off so the spray will stick perfectly. Rubber gloves help with this step so you dont re apply oil from your hands.
4. Tape the battery door onto whatever youre propping it up with, I did the double sided tape trick thing by rolling the tape onto itself.
5. Shake the plastidip really well, for at least 60 seconds.
6. Keep in mind we are going for light, consistant coats. I did 5 coats, holding the can 12-16 inches away like it says, and waiting 30-40m mins in between.
7. Begin spraying and remember there's no rush. Apply until satisfied. I recommend tilting whatever is holding your battery door to the side and hitting the edges and underside with plastidip too, because this stuff is easy to peel off if an edge gets started but is otherwise great. Also, i was worried about my mic hole and other holes in the battery door getting clogged but light coats prevented this
8. Allow at least 2 hours before touching it after your final coat, and 6 hours to fully dry is what it says on the can.
9. Enjoy
This will work on anything else you wish to rubberize too, from other Galaxy S phones, too the handles of pliers.
I've attached some pictures of mine. I didnt get a shot of the first coat, but it was really light and you could still see the google/samsung logo.
