DJ05 "officially" Fascinate ROM released by xda

"Nothing is showing up" as in apps that require data like the browser don't work? If so, do they work when you turn wifi off an are on 3g?

Sorry to ask but I don't want to start and get stuck in the middle and hose up the phone. I have downloaded the modem and rom files (kernel link does not work for me). So I go into odin and apply the modem file. Get out of odin and into clockworkmod to apply the rom. Get out of cwm and into rom manager to apply a kernel of my choice (probablky stupidfast). Reboot out of cwm and I should be golden?

Just be sure the kernal you choose is for dj05 and not di01

Well, something went wrong. When I tried to load the modem file via odin, it said fail. Now, it won;t power back up. If I try to cold boot into CWM, I get an icon that looks like a phone and a PC with a yellow triangle between them. Am I dead?

Nope...wifi works fine for me. Have you try to reflash?

I pulled battery, and I got back to download and odin, and loaded the modem file. I then got into cwm but it was not clear how to load the rom? I'm guessing I needed to download the rom file to my sdcard and then use the cwm option 'load from sdcard'? Also, which file do I load to the sdcard? The whole dj05 zip file? Or the unzipped folder? At this point, my phone reset and I am back to where I was before (I think). How do I check to see if modem file is still applied? Last question, if I get the rom applied, do I just reboot, go to rom manager and select the kernel? Or do I need to download the kernel to the sdcard, cold boot into cwm, and again load from sdcard. Sorry for the questions, guess I am not as sharp as I thought.

My build number under about phone is SCH-i500.di01?? and baseband version s:i500.04 v. dj05, am I doing something wrong? Already radio/ ->system/rom -> and flash...

also I lost all my data.. especially rooting! so i have to reroot later on...

is this normal?

Did you install CWM via Odin? You need to do that first.

After installing CWM, boot up the phone, mount SD and put the zip on your sd, don't extract it. Boot into recovery. If it is stock blue recovery, select "apply update.zip" with the home button to get into green CWM. If it's green CWM recovery, select "install from SD" (NOT apply update.zip) with the power button, then "select zip"" then nagivate your SD until you get to the rom .zip file, again select with power button.

You can do the kernel either through ROM manager or put it on your SD while you're putting your ROM on there and install both that way, doesn't matter. Don't touch Voodoo kernels. Make sure kernel is for DJ05.

When you're done your "about phone" should say DJ05 in baseband.

and also on top of that my screen back light doesnt go with the light button on the bottom, so I believe I have to start over from rooting->flash odin->apply dj05=(

You installed the DJ05 modem via Odin?
You flashed a DJ05 ROM and Kernel in CWM?

yeahhh I have all of that, but i lost it, so I think is best if I start all over, I also need to root to get my odin flash right? so Ill go ahead and redo it. my baseband says DJ05 and build says Di01..which is odd. Also my GPS is fix but screen back light and buttom button light doesnt go on and off the same time. I have to start over.=(

Your build number is reflected by the ROM and your baseband by the modem. This means your dj05modem flashed successfully but you haven't installed a DJ05 ROM yet. You'll also need a dj05 kernel for full functionality like vibration and sms.

Installed last night and wow. I had forgotten what a non-laggy gps felt like. Near pin-point accuracy with wifi off even inside within seconds. Also like that the soft touch buttons are now tied to the screen timeout. Thought I bricked my phone on first boot since they did away with the boot animation so it sat on a black screen for 5 minutes or so but finally booted up. Went over and installed Super Dark and it's even better with all the nifty transitions on opening/closing apps and also has the new market.

Yeah, but you need Windows to run Odin so you'll need to run Boot Camp.
