I can't figure out why this isn't working. I can stream YouTube videos, I can stream apps/games, but I can't stream Google Videos. Are those DRM encrypted and now allowed to stream or something?

EDIT: I'm referring to videos you purchase off the Movies/TV store.

Hi there,
We just tested this in our lab and have no issues streaming movies purchase through Google Play Store. What software are you using to play the movie? We used the Google Movies App.

Thanks - Krista from MHL team.

Thanks for the reply. You're using an HTC One, a wireless MHL adapter and the Google Videos app? I have 2 videos I've tried streaming, Transformers 3 and Prometheus. I haven't tried for a few months so I'll try again tonight and see how it goes.

Quick question though, how does the phone make a connection to the MHL adapter? Via wifi? If so, how can your phone simultaneously connect to the wireless MHL and your home wifi??

Hey there. What do you mean "wireless MHL adapter"? You have an adapter that is connected to your TV and connected to your phone correct? MHL charges your phone and gives you real-time mirroring of your phone which requires a cable. For connection information you can take a look at our website - MHL?.

Thanks - Krista

I think your One is trying to tell you something about Prometheus, like Don't watch it!

Wait, when I first posted this, I was using an HTC One X+. I've not tried using the wireless MHL on the HTC One since the last update because it kept saying I needed tethering.

The original post in this thread was about my HTC One X+ (which I guess since I no longer have it, is a moot point. Let me see about the HTC One and report back)

Remember that MHL is not wireless...it requires an HDMI cable, the adapter and power to work.

The MHL adapter is connected to my TV via HDMI and then my HTC connects wirelessly to it.

It's the HTC Media Link HD. Is this not also called an MHL adapter?

Yea, like Scott said, Google Play is unsupported. The HTC Media Link uses an 802.11 protocol for wireless streaming (I've got one as well), and HTC never released the API to other software vendors/programmers. The default video player and gallery work, as do most normal applications on the HTC, but most streaming media does not work including HULU Plus (tear). An MHL adapter plugs directly into the micro USB port, and provides a direct HDMI output to the TV or monitor. It works with any MHL compliant device, and has better throughput than the Media Link. You can find the micro USB MHL to HDMI adapters on Amazon or Ebay for less than 15 bucks...
