Do headset mics, bluetooth or wired, with chat apps?

Hey y'all,

I am *this* close to picking up a Note 8, especially after a) there was no new Nexus 7 at I/O and b) I found a buyer for my existing N7 in one of my friends who dropped his and shattered it. I have a Note 2 and am a heavy SPen user, and the Note 8 will take the productivity I'm already realizing on my N7 and amp it up pretty significantly.

That said, I have a question...

Is it possible with the Note 8 to use a headset, either bluetooth or wired, in Hangouts, Skype or any other audio/video conferencing apps? That has been a shortcoming with my N7 and this functionality would further expand my use of the Note over the Nexus. With the N7, I can use a headset, but I've never been able to get the mic to work. I can only use the mic built into the body.

I can say that it works in hangouts. There are specific individual controls for Bluetooth PR wired headsets and I've tried both with great success. I can't say for other apps but that one it does work.
