Do I have to revert to 2.1 to install a custom rom?

So I'm sitting on a rooted Droid X with the leaked 2.2 update from awhile back ago. Considering I have no need to run this phone stock, I was curious if I could just grab the bootstrapper and ROM manager and apply a new rom without having to revert back to stock 2.1 to do it. Yes? No? Maybe?

I'm running Rubix Focused 1.0 and I'm very happy with it, but it's the only ROM I've installed. I know people used to be (and may still be) happy with FlyX. Maybe someone that has run both can chime in.

Came from ApeX 1.0, running RubiX 1.0 on Ultra Low Voltage at 1ghz max/350mhz min using Jrummy's overclock app. Also, applied the black bar mod. :)

Do I lose out on anything in regards to performance or stability if I install a ROM over the leaked 2.2?

if you can go back to 2.1 get STOCK 2.2 from Rom Manager. You'll have no problemas after that with any future roms you choose to play with. Do a back up of your 2.2 build (you'll NEED it)then have fun playing with the roms out there.
