I'm so excited... I ordered on 9/6 and got my shipping notification yesterday. I saw on the email though that Verizon is sending a new SIM card. I'm upgrading from a Galaxy Nexus. Can't I just use my existing SIM? Should I use the new one they are sending?

I believe the Nexus has a mini SIM so they'll be sending you a micro SIM to fit the Note.

You should be able to cut your sim with a cheap cutting tool.

Now why would he want to do that when they're sending him one?

Unless things work differently on networks in the States the new micro SIM will have his existing number and he just needs to activate it (at least, that's how it works in the UK!)

sure, if the sim has his existing number. I never use a plan, so never get a new sim with existing #, i just cut cut cut them.

I'm also coming from the Galaxy Nexus. I didn't even think about the sim not fitting in the note. I got it full price to keep my unlimited plan. I don't think mine is coming with a new sim.

You can just go to your providers store and they will get you a new sim.

cut it.... :)

When I pre-ordered, the form asked if I intended to use my current gnex sim and when I said yes it listed I declined a new sim card. From what I understand, the gnex has a micro sim and the only reason they're sending a new one is so you can use the isis payment system. The new sims have NFC in them. Assuming my current sim does work on the n3, I'm planning to keep using the same one.

Aaah. Thanks everyone. I had declined a new SIM when I ordered so I was curious as to why Verizon sent one anyway... Tomorrow can't come quick enough. :)

I popped in my old sim card and it booted up just fine. This was after I realized there was one already in there of course. Tough to get out too.

How did you get your sim out ? I can't get mine out at all and it just sits on activating for over 5 min's when I try to activate it so I wanted to put my old card in it.

Take a little push pin, and there's a little slot near the right side at the top that you can take the push pin and kinda push the SIM card out, and then just use your fingers and fingernails to slide the SIM card the rest of the way out. Definitely a cumbersome way to get it out, but hopefully this works for you as well.

Thanks !! That worked.

I had to go to the VZW store today because my phone would not activate. I was getting 2 bars on 3G the entire time I tried to activate the phone. The rep swapped out the SIM card and it immediately showed 4 bars 4G when activating. Just make sure if you are using the included one that it might not work. Likely it was just me.

If its not setting up phone just call Verizon phone has not been set to your account as soon as you do it will show up 4g
