Do not disturb alarm issues

Who uses Do Not Disturb and what alarm app do you use?

I have used the Digital Alarm app for several years. At some point earlier this year, Do Not Disturb started preventing my alarms from sounding and even starred contacts from breaking through. I was using the S7e.

I thought it was a software glitch that came about through a system update but I am having the same problems on this new Note, at least with the alarms. Not sure yet about the starred contacts. It also seems the alarms will sound and break through Do Not Disturb if the phone has been woken up within a certain amount of time. It is like the lock screen is the main culprit and when the phone is in deep sleep, nothing can break through.

I am going to try the stock alarm app to see if this fixes the issue. I have checked all the Do Not Disturb settings and everything should be working, but it is not. The alarm app will open but it cannot break through Do Not Disturb with the lock screen on. Hoping the stock alarm app will work.

Any experience out there any of you can share?

Change your Do Not Disturb setting to allow priority notifications then make sure the app you are using is set as priority in notification settings.

Stock alarm with no issues. My advice is to follow what tmo1973 said. I've done that before and it worked.

I have changed the setting to allow priority notifications and checked off the alarm app, but thank you tmo1973 for that tip. It is not working for me. That is what I first thought was happening so yesterday I changed that setting but it still does not work for me.

Katrina, I will let you know tomorrow morning if it works or not with the stock app because the phone seriously has to sit dormant for a while for this issue to occur. I also use themes and I wonder if that has anything to do with the problem? Seems the display just wants to stay locked.

I don't use DND but if all else fails you could try setting the end of the DND windows to a few minutes before your alarm is set to trigger. Seems like it should work tho since it explicitly shows "Alarms only" as the default exception.

Cheers,
BR

Thank you, if all else fails. :)

Stock alarm and three priorty(favorites) get through DND and thankfully nothing else does. But I had a problem with this on the Pixel Xl and its stock alarm.
