Android Central Question

Ok, something is odd and I can't figure it out with Do Not Disturb and Contacts Only or Favorite contacts only.

Do Not Disturb is on
Alarms - On
Media - on

Calls from Contacts Only or Favorite Contacts only is set (tried both ways). This seems to work with DnD is on. Only Favorites calls actually make a sound on my phone, others just light up the screen with no sound.

Messages from Contacts Only or Favorite Contacts only is set (tried both ways).

I do NOT get a notification from an email sent from a Contact (who is also starred as a favorite) and their email is listed as the email in my contacts.

I do get a notification if the same contact sends me a text message from their mobile phone number that is listed as their phone number in my contacts.

I have a second contact who does not have a mobile phone to text, but does have a land line and an email address listed in my contacts. If the contact calls me, the call is received and notification does sound.

If the second contact sends an email to my email address or send an email to my text address (phonenumber@vtext.com, which is Verizon interface for text messages from email.) I do get the emails and the text message, but NOT a notification on my phone from the contact. The contact is in my contact list and is starred as a favorite.

I have deleted the contact and added to phone and google, but still same results. I can't seem to figure out why I can't get gmail to notify me on emails or text messages sent from an email.

I have to apologize because I had a hard time keeping up with everything you were saying. I think you zigged one too many times for me. LOL.

From what I gather however you are using two contacts as examples, where you get texts, calls and emails from one when DND is on and one who you feel is set up the same way in your contacts that you do not. Is this correct?

The questions I would then ask would be;
>Are they on the same network? Could the one that isn't getting through be on a secondary network, like Boost or PCS? I know it shouldn't make a difference but secondary networks are cheaper for a reason and there could be a missing service or option that isn't turned on like with Big Red, Sprint and At&T…
>What device does this contact have? We all know of issues between Android and that other A company. I might be as simple as compatibility among devices.
>What is different between these two contacts? If not carrier or device, is there anything that sets this one contact apart from your other contacts?

The reason I ask these questions is this, if it were your device I would expect it to be across the board, or be sporadic among other contacts and not specific to just this one. What your phone hates this person so only they aren't getting through??? Unlikely. There most likely is something different on their end and it is only noticeable to you on your end.

There's a lot of information in your post which is rare, so thank you for that, All too often we get, my phone doesn't ring, help me please. So detail is better, I just had a difficult time following along. Hopefully I got the gist.
