It's happened enough not to be human error. I've found randomly that do not disturb is selected but I never did. Any ideas?

Seems like it is an option in UI tuner that allows the volume button option to enable do not disturb.

More like "disables" it.

I am not using UI Tuner and, if I press and hold Volume Down it eventually reaches Do Not Disturb mode.

so can we turn this off?

  1. Drag down the notification bar
  2. Press and hold the gear icon (Settings) at top-right of screen for several seconds
  3. When you let go, it should go to Settings with a notification at the bottom of the screen saying System UI Tuner has been enabled. I forget the exact wording
  4. Scroll to the very bottom of the Settings page and just above About phone you will see that "System UI Tuner" has been added. Tap it.
  5. Tap Do not disturb and then disable "Volume buttons shortcut"

Now, when you press and hold Volume down, it will go through the various volume levels and finally switch to vibrate mode, but it will no longer go into Do Not Disturb.

I switched off the option via UI tuner and I'm still getting the behavior. I think it's related to Android Wear, I have a Moto 360 2nd generation with my Pixel on VZW.

I would love to know if anyone can confirm this suspicion... I went so far as a factory reset and it did nothing. Mine will do it 20 or more times per day. Extremely annoying when you look down and have missed calls o4 texts because the phone set itself into do not disturb mode...

I also have a Moto 360 (2015) paired with my Pixel XL and it goes into DND mode at random, and I'm definitely not hitting the volume down button.

I have a Huawei Watch connected and experienced the same behavior. Someone suggested deleting the three default DND profiles and I haven't had the problem since.

Samsung Live Android Wear here and it does it all the dang time. I JUST tried the UI Tuner thing so I can't say if that will fix or not, though it sounds like maybe not.
