Do not drop the samsung s8

I missed my shirt pocket with my S8+ and it dropped from there to a tile floor with only a very thin mat. Phone in Spigen Tough Armor and no damage whatsoever to either the case or the phone. I can hardly wait to see what the S9 is going to be made of ;(

Samsung is doing what everyone wanted, making a "premium device" instead of a durable plastic body. Their phones have been fragile since the S6 and the edge display is worse.

I used to work for Verizon, I've seen a lot of broken phones, seen people break the screen on the S6 Edge in under a week of owner ship.

Sorry for your damage. But you're supposed to be careful enough to not drop your phone. I never use a case or a screen protector, and my phone is in perfect condition, because I don't drop it or let it scrape against metal or other hard objects.

Bought the Samsung S8 and unfortunately dropped it the first day and it shattered like glass. I cannot believe Samsung is doing this to us. The screen is gorilla glass which is great then they have the nerve to charge 600-800+ for a phone made of something so fragile. Where I bought it they did not have a case for it. I say buy a case first then the phone.

Samsung did this to you? Did they come up behind you and knock it out of your hands? You have to take responsibility for your own accidents. I have this talk with my teenagers all the time. They are glass and will break. There is no glass on the market that doesn't break. I'm sorry this happened.

Did this happen with the s7 and s6 and iphones? where the first 3 weeks were filled with post of people who drop the phone days..hours after getting it and complaining why they sold them such a fragile phone?
And word has it Apple is going back to an all glass design to facilitate wireless charging.... Between the G6, Galaxy series and what looks to be next iPhones ( as well as some previous ones...) Looks like all the top tier options will be all Glass...

I placed mine on a bakers rack and it slipped though, fell from about belt high landed on a tile floor.

Only had a dbrand skin on it and there was no damage. (Had to pull the skin off to verify)

That being said if damage had accured, that's on me not Samsung!

As a father to two teen-aged daughters that are in possession of Samsung Galaxy S8 phones, this is something I expect, but hope against, every day when I come home from work.

Short of equipping their phones with M1 Abrams cases - which are remarkably unpopular with that demographic - it's just something you live with if you've made this choice.

(And, for clarity's sake, by "you've made this choice", I do mean having two teen-aged daughters.)

My 13 yr old son dropped his S8 on like day 3. Cracked with a case and screen protector on it. Accidents happen and insurance replaced it.

I winced after seeing this post. My S8+ has been in a Unicorn Beetle Pro Supcase case since the moment I took it out of the box.

I'm pretty sure the OP didn't drop it intentionally. Accidents are called accidents for a reason.

Same here. Might have the same case. Mine is unicorn beetle supcase, all black. Also Caseology clear with reinforced bumper

As a Verizon rep, I can tell you a bunch of people broke them within weeks of ownership. People came in with beat up looking S3, S4, S5 phones not in a case and left the store with no case. We recommended it, they figured we are just trying to be greedy and make commission.

Needless to say a few people dropped and broke them on day one. Had a few people come yell at us for selling them a fragile phone, and a few who wanted to exchange it but we couldn't because they cracked the back. One guy got an S6 Edge and didn't want to invest in a case because he wasn't sure if he would like the curved screen, was back 3 days later wanting to exchange for the regular S6 but the back of his phone was cracked.

Our Note 7 display was broken the first month it was on display, it got dropped on the counter, fell like 2ft lol. Coworkers S6 Edge plus broke while in one of Samsungs slim cases falling from a conference table to a carpeted floor. These are the most fragile phones ever and now Lg, HTC, Motorola, and even Apple are making glass backs.

Yeah but an accident caused by the user is not the fault of Samsung, like the OP said.

Well the OP said it himself. Do NOT drop an S8. Those of us who owned an S7 Edge know EXACTLY what he's talking about.

It's not being mean, it's the laws of physics.

Glass phones are a dumb idea. Wireless charging be damned. Now I hear Apple is going to do the glass phones. See how that goes.
