Do protective/rubber cases cause signal loss?

I took my case off and I got one to two extra bars in my bathroom. Maybe if your in a dead zone it could help you too?

Yea my otterbox def. Messes with signal but anything obstructing your antenna will cause some kind of disruption to signal, the question is, " is loss of protection worth the gain in signal?"
