On the screen or body, does a scratch or chip bother you? My Pixel XL, along the bezel right where it meets the screen, has a few small silver parts either where the finish is not as good or some how got chipped. Kind of bugging me but after all the exchanging and stuff I have done I refuse to go back to my Verizon store lol

Yeah it bothers me. Plus it's about a $50 or so ding to the real value for a chip or visible scratch.

I agree. I just wish I knew how they happen?! No drops, no sitting on hard services. I've babied since my case and Tempered screen protector don't come in until Tuesday.

Unfortunate that I could not replace it. I would feel horrible if I lied and said there was an issue to have a replacement issued to me. Lol

Mine has a mark in the metal where u can see the silver. No idea how that happened. The moto Z I had did the same thing after a week. I wish it wasnt painted metal. I wish it was the same color all the way through.

Exact same!! I also have 2 micro scratches by my earpiece that is only noticeable when light hits it a certain way. Its impossible for me to keep a phone 100% flawless so I'm not even going to go through a headache of trying to figure out how to get it fixed lol just not worth it.

I returned my Z to best buy and before I went I used a pencil to make the color closer to the rest of it so they wouldn't notice it and deny my return. Lol.
I'm definitely getting a slick wrap for the phone to cover up that mark!

I have an Incipio DualPro and Tempered Glass Screen Protector coming in Tuesday morning. Hopefully that hides most of it. Only reason I got them is because I had a VZW gift card lol

Yes. I've sold many because of this. :(

It got to the point I no longer remove the case. I take it off after work and on my days off.

I'm amazed at the number of people, not necessarily here, who hates scratches yet also refuse to put a case on their phone

Indeed. It sucks to get them BUT nearly impossible to prevent.

It's not even about dropping it either, I sold my second OnePlus 3 (Soft Gold) because I didn't have a case and I had coins in my pocket, I guess somehow it got squeezed where it left a dent on the chamfered edge. I sold it a week later.

This is when I had enough and now leave the case 24/7.

The other was funny, at least to the buyer...

Not that I was pleased with the Samsung Galaxy S4, one of the worst I've bought but anyways...

Again, was using it naked. I had a call and when I got out of the vehicle I hit against the door and made a small chipped.

I put it up for sale and when the buyer ask about the chipped he LOL because he could barely see it.

I am also amazed by this logic. BTW, OtterBox Defender FTW. And yes, that IS a Pixel in my pocket -- thank you for noticing the bulge in my pants. You pervert LOL.

Although I've tried several times, I just can't enjoy using a phone without a case. Every time I put it down on a surface, or in my pocket I get worried, or I have to be extra careful so I don't drop it even though I've only ever dropped a phone twice. I'm concerned because of resale and because I don't like chips and scratches everywhere. I see other people using phones with shattered screens and stuff and that's great for them, but mine is going to be pristine.

Now if I was going to carry around a $200 5x and was going to keep it so I wasn't concerned about the resale, I'd go caseless.

Like other things in life, ive had to learn to just deal with it. I don't like glass screen protectors. Often the coatings on them wear away fast. They crack, chip and bubble up easily from being taking in and out of the pocket constantly and put under stress. They do little to nothing for impacts despite what anything or anyone claims. Its physics, if the phone drops hard enough to break the screen, its going to break regardless of whats on top of it. PLastic protectors look like crap after a few weeks and never feel good in the hands.

The only thing that really bothers me as gouges. I think metal phones are dumb, they look and feel great, but ill take a Nokia or Nexus 5X like device any day.

Just about anyone who loves metal phones and thinks they feel and look more premium, put them in a TPU/Softtouch like case for their entire lives and never actually see the phone they appreciate for its metal body.

I put the glass on the screen and a clear silicone after unboxing it. Its all set just in case of being careless.

I can agree with you on this. Especially with the glass back on the Pixel. I was always worried laying it down on surfaces.

I am enjoying my Spigen case so far. Feels good and I don't panic haha.

I love the look and feel of my phones without a case, but I'm also OCD when it comes to scratches, so I usually keep my phone in a case. Recently, I finally stopped using tempered glass protectors. The real glass on the phone looks and feels SO much better and I find that gorilla glass is very scratch resistant so long as you don't drop your phone. I always hated scrolling down from the top of the phone to pull up my notifications and feeling where the phone screen stops and the protector starts.

The Pixel XL is just too slippery for me to be co comfortable going without a case. I got it on Saturday and have not dropped it, nor put it on a hard surface, nor put it in my pocket yet it has a micro scratch near the earpiece, small nick in the bezel, and a few silver portions showing through the finish along the bezel. In no way does it look bad, or mishandled, it is just proof of how fragile the finish is. My case and screen protector will be in here in a couple hours luckily.
