Do u think the Google pixel will be a success?

yes, because Google has only forecast to sell 4 million of them. With supposedly 1.7 million preorders, they are well on track.

I think it will be an interesting statement, putting Google out there in the hardware market right next to some versus just doing the software in previous phones.

I honestly love the fact that it's got the latest things in almost every department both in hardware and software and to be honest it's only going to get better.

Once again it's the price that will turn off a lot of buyers. There are so many great phones on the market that one could pay cash for, like the oneplus3, blu xr, that the decision will be hard. Verizon will win with the Pixel because most of the less expensive devices only run GSM, not CDMA.

It'll probably just be mediocre. Google needs to get the phones in stores so non-tech people will pick it up. And they need to stop rebranding all their products every year. The "nexus" was a great name for hardware to go along side the "android" software name.

I think the phone will be successful in time, more than what folks are giving it. The Verizon deal make sense like a guy on YouTube mentioned, ( props to him) but when Verizon was doing the marketing for the Droid ads that's all many associate Android to. So for marketing purposes the Verizon deal is great along with the reliable network. Google is taking matters into their own hands, software and hardware. Now they need to advertise and promote the phone well to the masses and all those low end owners when ready to move up, the Pixel will be right there as the premium version for Android.

All three of their apps can be completely uninstalled. Two of the apps are pretty useful, if you're on Verizon.

I am not..... thankfully. Unfortunately the Verizon version also comes with a locked boot loader. If this is to be the evolution of what the Nexus was, I want the full experience as Google intended.

Tbh I think it will be quite a success. Maybe for us who've been following tech for quite a while, it'll take some time before we finally get over the fact that Google did indeed steer away from the beloved Nexus line - with their good specs to price ratio, into a whole new dimension of premium smartphones aimed at the public. But for the mainstream audience, it's only an emerging high-end phone with a relatively clean look, great camera and AI baked in, competing directly with likes of Apple and Samsung's flagships - even with the same price range.

To people who have only been looking at Galaxy phones and iPhones, it wouldnt be considered as too expensive as they barely even knew the existence of Nexus, if at all. To them, it's only a 'new and exciting phone' from 'another big tech company', with several features to boast about. Google is taking a very different step here, and from what I can see, it is definitely slowly nudging itself into the game of 'premium smartphones', and with this level of marketing, it has been able to appeal to audiences that werent previously possible with the Nexus line too.

What I feel is, with time and more marketing, especially when the phones start shipping and making appearances in more people's lives (silently promoting its presence and subconsciously affecting the choices of people in the circle of Pixel owners), it will definitely have its place in the future of high-end smartphones.

Except that other flagship Android phones have wonderful specs too. I think that widespread availability will be crucial for the success of the Pixel brand.

Everything I have read about this phone so far has me wishing I had one. I have a cell through my office, and when they start handing these out, I'm jumping in with 2 feet!

Success
It will only work on Verizon. Which is no for me.
Why Limit yourself when you 1st come out for Business. Like you got to join a Club to buy the phone.
Not using their heads to me. Need to get whomever is running this part in Check with reality.

It don't have a SD card.

Unless you get a Black phone the front of the phones are What Color : WHITE, I hate white phones.
And it don't have a Back key like Samsung. What ! No back key.

Don't think the Pixel phone will work for me. No matter what it can do.

It'll work on any carrier. You have the option to buy it directly through Google.

I think its all about brand awareness. Unlike the nexus phones, it seems as if a LOT of people know about the Pixel, because google is marketing and pushing it directly and in a very Applye-esque fashion. Thats critical to its success, and if anything I think the fact that people can buy it through the largest carrier in the US (Verizon) will only help it in sales. And lets not forget the Galaxy Note 7 debacle...really it couldn't have come at a more opportune time. Will it outsell the iPhone? Of course not. But I have a feeling it will sell enough to allow Google to keep building on the brand, which is critical to the Pixel's long term success.

If you define success as making money from the device, I think it could. It may take 2-3 years, they are going to have to spend a lot of money marketing and maybe take a loss the first year or two. But if they can iterate it and keep a solid user experience, I think eventually it will be a success especially if you get some of the iphone user crowd on board and they like it.

It can be used on EVERY carrier, pretty much on earth. It is only available through Verizon if you go the carrier route. But you can buy it from Google and use it on whatever carrier you want.

And it most definitely has a back button.

I think with Samsung stumbling with the Note 7...the timing is ripe for the Pixel to be a moderate success... but alot of people (Non Tech) will still buy a "Galaxy" phone based on reputation, and the enthusiast crowd will try and pick up the 6P second hand or new if it can be found for a while and wait to see what next year offers. I am rolling with my 6P for another year.

People aren't wired that way.

People will see the phone, the price, and the marketing material and impulse buy at the store. People love new shiny things, even when they don't quite understand it. I think Google is banking on that.

I still don't believe it. I hope I'm wrong tho. I've had a couple non-nerd friends ask me what the google phone is and my thoughts. That's a good start I guess.
